Update (9:41 a.m. May 20): Shon Pernice has pleaded not guilty to charges that he murdered his missing wife, Renee Pernice.
Renee Pernice has been missing since January 2009. A grand jury indicted Shon Pernice on Tuesday.
Shon Pernice still has one supporter -- his mother. Masha Pernice told Fox 4 that her son is innocent and claimed Renee Pernice left town after asking her son for a divorce.
"There's no way he could have hurt her," Marsha Pernice told Fox 4.

Original story (4:51 p.m. May 18): A Clay County grand
jury has indicted Shon Pernice on first-degree murder charges in
the January 2009 disappearance of his wife, Renee Pernice.
Pernice is being held in the Clay County jail on $1 million bond.
Prosecuting
attorney Dan White told reporters that Renee Pernice's body is
still missing. Her family is offering a $25,000 reward for the tip that
leads them to her.
In
January, Pernice signed over full custody of his two sons to Linda
Lockwood, the mother of Renee Pernice.
Renee Pernice
disappeared a year and a half ago and has not been seen
since. Her disappearance has been dubbed "a
death investigation," and her family believes she is dead.
A
month after Renee Pernice's disappearance, a
reporter discovered Shon Pernice's profile on a dating Web site.
It
was only the beginning of a strange string of incidents involving Shon
Pernice. He's been accused of stealing
a neighbor's gun and later returning it. In July, Pernice was accused
of crashing a Fourth of July party.
