I, for one, cannot wait to see the out-of-this-world headdresses dreamed up by Kansas City Art Institute junior Maegan Stracy at the West 18th Street Fashion Show this Saturday.
Stracy, an Overland Park native, is 19 years old -- the youngest designer to have her work featured on the runway at this year's show.
"I still kinda don't believe it," Stracy says of her inclusion in the
event.
So what should we expect? "When people consider the Decadent Summer theme,
they automatically think of long, satin dresses," Stracy says. "I
decided to go with bold patterns and bright colors." Stracy's hand-dyed,
sheer silk organza fabric used in her ethereal tops, paired over teensy
shorts, lends her designs an urban-pixie vibe.
As for her own
favorite duds, Stracy says, "I like to wear a lot of jumpsuits and
rompers." It's nice to only have one thing to put on, right? "Except
when you have to go to the bathroom," she adds.
