Peter Newman, former assistant director at a Kanakuk Kamps for Christian principles in sports, has been sentenced to two life terms plus another 30 years for molesting boys.
Newman pleaded guilty in February to two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy and one count of second-degree statutory sodomy for abusing teenage boys.
An investigative report recounting one victim's experience noted Newman
would ask boys to masturbate with him in his hot tube at his Branson
home. Once they were in the hot tub, it wasn't long before Newman asked
for other things, like oral sex, from the underage boys. At least one
victim was as young as 11.
KY3 shot this video of Newman's sentencing and tearful apology (via the Turner Report).
"To the families, I am genuinely sorry for the things that I've done," Newman said. "I think about the hurt that I've caused in your lives, and I ache. I know that you feel betrayed and angry and hurt and there's probably also a good deal of hatred, and I understand all of that. And I accept all of that."
