Update II (1:03 p.m. June 10): Zachary A. Bowers
has been charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the killing of his father, David A. Bowers. The probable cause statement says that in a phone conversation with police, Zachary Bowers claimed his father made him kill him. "Dad threw the gun in my hand and told me to pull the trigger. I pulled the trigger and shot him."
Zachary Bowers' brother claimed that Zachary was drinking vodka and gets violent when he drinks.
Update I (11:29 a.m. June 10): Zachary A. Bowers, the 22-year-old man accused of killing his father, David A. Bowers, is in police custody. Independence police traced him to the Highland Manor Mobile Home Park and arrested him yesterday.
Bowers' arraignment is scheduled for today.
David Bowers was
shot to death in the 1900 block of South Quail Creek Drive on June 7.
Original story (6 a.m. June 9): Independence police are calling
22-year-old Zachary A. Bowers a suspect in the homicide of
54-year-old David A. Bowers, and they're trying to track Bowers
down.
An arrest warrant has been issued for the younger Bowers,
who is described as 5-foot-10-inches tall, 130 pounds with brown hair
and hazel eyes.
The Jackson County Medical Examiner's office has
ruled David Bowers' death a homicide by gunshot. Bowers was from
Rogers, Arkansas.
