Gov. Nixon -- can I call you Jay? Jay, let me give you some advice: It's time to shut the fuck up about the Big 12 Minus Two.
You're the governor of Missouri -- and a Tigers fan -- so I know the impulse is to give your take on what's been going down. I get it. Everyone's an expert when it comes to sports. But this is getting embarrassing.
It's no secret that you wanted Missouri to join the Big Ten. You even talked shit on the academics of at Oklahoma State and Texas Tech, compared with the Big Ten. It's like raving to your girlfriend about how hot the girl across the street is. And the Big Ten offer? It never came (Missouri Chancellor Brady Deaton said as much at yesterday's presser, according to SB Nation Kansas City).
Hell, even Nebraska Chancellor Harvey Perlman criticized
your
comments for creating instability in the conference. (He did this as he led the
Cornhuskers out the door to the Big Ten.)
"One school
leaving a conference does not destroy a
conference," Perlman said. "Nebraska did not start this
discussion. After the Big Ten announced it planned to consider
expansion, we saw reports that Missouri would want to go to the Big
Ten, including a statement by their governor, a member of board of
curators and chancellor -- comments that weren't clearly supportive
of the Big 12."
Now the Tigers are crawling back in bed with the
Big 12 Minus Two. And your spin is that the conference just lost its
weakest links in basketball (Nebraska and Colorado). True. But it also
lost one of its strongest football programs.
And as for losing
the weakest links in basketball, the league just got tougher. Jay, can
you explain to me how it might be easier for the conference's teams to
make it to the NCAA Tournament, as you've suggested? Yeah, they'll have
better RPIs playing better teams, but that doesn't mean shit if you don't hit the 20-wins
plateau (and those are four winnable games leaving the schedule).
Who would you rather play in men's basketball, Nebraska and Colorado or Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas
Tech? Missouri's record against Nebraska and Colorado last season, 4-0. Against the south, 3-3.
Jay, please just shut the fuck up.

Hey Missouri, you voted a Nixon into office. Did you really think it would go well?
I could use some half rate twat Justin. Know any good places on the cheap?
So Jay Nixon should shut up about the big 12 but we should listen to what a half rate twat like Justin Kendall has to say about it?
Who cares what Harvey Perlman has to say about anything, btw? No one voted for him for anything but changing tom osborne's grampers.
