The movement to criminalize K2 synthetic marijuana is using the death of an Iowa teen as proof that the compound is dangerous.
The
Des Moines Register reports that 18-year-old David Rozga of Indianola, Iowa, was smoking K2 with friends when he "freaked out" and said he was "going to hell." He then started walking home, telling his friends he was going to go to sleep. Instead, he committed suicide.
But was this the result of a teen under the influence or the actions of a
depressed boy in need of psychological help?

I also forgot to add the names of the syntheic marijuanna my son was using cloud 9, nyc and I think this stuff called nutts. When I went to puchace this syntheic marijuanna they sold me cloud 9 and cloud 9 extra strenth $10.00 each and I pay with my debut card and the receipt said I purchase gas when I don't even drive, it was a cover up. Next gas station I went to I asked for nyc my sons friend told me where to go and what to ask for the man behind the counter pulled out a cigar box with a small bottle like lip gloss would come in and look like marijuanna he called it nuts and was $25.00 a bottle and he also had a package like the ones I purchase previously and it was called cloud 10 and selling for $20.00.This is all illegal and Im hoping the law will catch up with them soon before something happens to someone elses child.
My 16 year old son is in a rehab because he was smoking this k-2, he was in a psyhcotic state of mind, came home from school one day crying he was shaking uncontrolablely.He is in school at the rehab and his doctor called last night and said he has trouble remembering things he is being taught.Im not sure if he will ever feel normal again. I contacted a attorney general about these gas stations selling it near my home and he told me the stuff has been ban since March 2011 he wanted more imformation how they sold it they take it out from behind the counter from a cigar box. I think they know its illegal and are still selling it. The attorney general refer to them as drug dealers and are looking in to it. Now im thinking about talking to a lawyer for legal advice because I don't know if my son will ever feel normal again.
My deepest prayers go out to this family. I am so sorry to read some of the horribly nasty things others are saying about this situation. Although I know this is only caused by their lack of the Holy Spirit living within them. My brother is severly addicted to this substance and has personally told me that he has imagine (halucinated) killing himself with a gun as well. It is a miracle that this hasnt yet happened. But there is really nothing we can do because like I said he is seveerly addicted. I believe that there is tremendous power in prayer and believe that he will be delivered by Lord Jesus Christ because He is faithful. Please accept my condolences. I smoke k2 everyday . But after just reading about david it makes me not want to smoke it anymore because i have 2 kids and i dont want let them see me this way anymore . I am quiting this shit . My son, Jake, killed himself on 11/6/2011. He was addicted to Spice and using about 3 grams per day during the last 2 months. He was a college student, very successful and thought he would try something to relieve his stress, but only if it was legal. I am confident that this Spice produces psychotic reactions and gives certain people extreme thoughts of suicide. My son was the last person anyone would expect to commit suicide. This was an extreme shock to the entire community. Please don't use this product!
I too have a 23 year old son who has been severly addicted to K2 for close to 2 years. I wait daily for the phone call that he's gone because this stuff is killing him...it has destroyed his life, my life, and those around him. I have been living in hell as a result of something that can be bought at the corner convenience store along with a soda and a bag of chips. It's been banned in Missouri, but my son has had NO PROBLEM buying more of the "new stuff". BEWARE!!! The new K2, K3, K4, whatever they're calling it, the chemicals that they've used to replace the JWH are 1000x's stronger and the effects are different. He's in his 4th rehab facility after deciding that he no longer wants to live..AGAIN! He just wants this to stop, but no one knows how to help. The facilities, most have never heard of it. Previous Rehabs treated it like a canabis addiction, not even close! Now his 4th attempt, they're detoxing him with a medication similar to methadone, used for heroin. I've seen the withdrawals, and the CRAVINGS he literally cries about, doctors say they're worse than heroin. He's attempted to replace this with smoking weed, even some of the best stuff, he doesn't want it, only the Spice. He had everything and lost it all because of this crap. A house, a job, a future. I truly believe that I will bury my son some day..the damage to his brain and his organs, beyond repair, he's just surviving today. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STUFF!

oh and weed is amazing and absolutely not the same as this shit many people have went to the hospital with psychotic episodes, vomiting, elevated bp, increased agitation and tremors a mung other side effects that do not happen when you smoke weed. to even compare these two substances is simple ignorance. they spray these "k2" drugs with potent chemicals no one knows exactly what they are getting when they choose a bag of this dumb shit from the tobacco store based on the names like "voodoo". i have read some things about much much more harmful things being sold desquised as the original k2 that actually contain known illegal chemicals. it is not possible to die from smoking weed. weed is guilty of making you lazy and causing your thought process to slow down. it also helps treat many diseases, while k2 has had only negative and scary feedback since it started sweeping across the nation. when i started researching this i did not expect all these reports on elevated heart rate and other odd things accuring to people quite regularly.
i started looking up stuff about k2 because i tried a certain kind earlier with my little brother i only took a couple hits off it and then my brother disclosed an event that had happened to him a couple weeks ealier with the same substance. he told me that he smoked alot of it and thought he was going to die. he said his heart was pounding really fast and it got to the point where he could not move and all he could hear was his heart pounding in his ears. eventually he could get up and walk down the hall way to the kitchen. he fell into the wall and couldnt walk straight. he told me he thought he was going to pass out. he said he tried to eat and that didnt help at all. he sat down and tried to concentrate on breathing which helped a little. he went back to playing video games and trying to be normal but he could hear his heart pounding for atleast another half an hour. all while he is telling me this i hear my own heart start beating fast. my own mind starts playing tricks on me and i start thinking its doing the same to me. i immediately got up and said i had to leave the room. i returned to what i was doing before i went in the room and told myself i was being ridiculous, but i could hear my own heart beat for a few more minutes until i calmed myself down. obviously this drug has extreme affects on the psychosis of the mind and even worse extreme effects on your heart. ive heard stories of an elevated heart rate from almost everyone who i know that has tried this.

I tried K2 recently. smoked one hit out of the same pipe as my friends were...They were fine, but i wasnt! my heart started racing, so bad that i thought it was going to explode. i nearly passed out, my mind was together the whole time because i was begging them to call an ambulance if i did pass out and explaning how to do CPR if my heart stopped. i started praying to God not to let this be it for me, and after about 5 minutes my heart started slowing and within an hour i was completly fine again. some, maybe most people can tolerate this stuff, but I found out the hard way that my body can not. I hope no one reading this will try it. if you do, keep at least one sober person close by. and DONT be the one to let your friends try it, do you want to be the one responsible for their death?
I smoked weed the other day and had a schizophrenic like episode where i couldnt tell reality from what my mind was think was real. i thought i was already dead and that i was in hell. i went absolutely crazy. i thought i was going to kill everyone in the room including myself. I know how that kid must of felt. Scariest moment in my life. i will never touch any drug again. it was like a real life horror movie in your head and you are forced to watch it within your own mind. This haven't recently, but me and a couple of friends were smoking k2. and it was mine and my neighbors first time and my other two friends did it all the time. As we were smoking it, we tried blowing smoke bubbles and my neighbor started freaking out. It started when he was trying the bubble thing and he inhaled either the smoke or the bubble or even both. But he started saying oh i dont like this, whats happening to me, whats going on and breathing funny. It wasn't anything normal. It had no effect on me like that, and it was my first time. But he started walking around back and forth and making faces as if he was going to throw up. Started begging for help, grabbing our hands as tight as possible. then started saying he has to go home. Us not understanding the situation were trying to calm him down and tell him to breathe but he wouldn't stop freaking out. then he ran to the door and started saying he has to leave he has to leave. we were scare to let him out, but we still did. He opened the door and started screaming home constantly. Since he lived right across the street it wasn't long until he got home, He went to the hosiptal and thats everything i knew from there. But we were all worried about him so the next night my friend talked to him and asked him everything that happened. He was telling her that he felt like he was going to die and everyone was trying to kill him. the ambulance came to his house for rescue but he was fighting them, he was fighting everyone thinking they were all bad people. The doctors had to break his arm because it was that bad. The "high" was only suppose to last 30 minutes but his lasted 3 hours, hes save now but only because he got to the hosiptal in enough time. hes still scared of it happening again.
I highly recommend noone doing k2, even if it doesn't have this effect on you. Maybe one day it will.
I'm reading this because my son, living in Iowa, going to college had a near death experience using K2. He called me in the middle of the night and said that he thought he died and went to hell, only to scream out to Jesus, and then come to consciousness. Three weeks later, he believes that he had a near death experience. He is 100% convinced. His friends thought that he had died. His eyes rolled back in his head, and then his arms extended straight up, and he was screaming for Jesus. He said that he was in hell. K2 is seriously dangerous. His heart was failing, extremely fast racing, and then he slipped away. K2 should not be used.

In the EXTREMELY unlikely event that he went from a happy well adjusted all American teen star to a suicidal basket case over a bad spice trip, if the gun was out of his reach don't you think that would have bought him ample time for the bad trip to wear off, thereby saving his life?

MY HEART goes out to the parents and i wish somehow i could connect with them.. my son smoked k2 and snapped out of a coma..he was a church goer and made a terrible choice and the description he felt was hell...it will stay with him for the rest of his life and he too wanted to kill himself...i hope more information will get out there for parents because before this i had never heard of k2..
alright ill give this a unbaised argument, i stumpled apon this story after i had a k2 trip not to long ago. So a few months ago i smoked 3 joints of this shit by myself then abou 5 minutes later the shit crept up on me and hit me hard, i was halucinating and tripping real hard for hours and felt like my heart was beating out of my chest. but to say that the kids parents were "not good parents" is bull shit like wes von said. He also said if he was smokin this stuff he had to have been smokin pot before. also false, i smoked this stuff because i was affraid to try pot because its illegal, i have a 3.8 gpa in highschool and been accepted into clemson university my parents raised me damn well. Just because the dumb ass smoked this stuff dosnt mean you can blame his parents... you probably dont have kids so you dont know how if feels to work all your life on raising a kid and having them shit on you when you raised them well and go out and smoke this shit, teenagers are dumb, this kid was dumb. marijuana is not even comparable to L.S.D. it does not make you hallucinate and it does not cause you to do things your normally wouldnt, do it only changes the way you think about things. honestly this may sound foolish but you really shouldn't make those types of conclusions about it unless you have tried it yourself. The high of marijuana may change your perspective on things but only to a certain point. It does not cause insanity, or reckless behavior. It is a safe drug and is used everday by responsible adults for muscle pain, loss of appetite, nausea, and even anxiety. Unfortunately it is illegal for recreational use because of racism and falsely fabricated government propaganda of the 30's, and later by nixon and reagan in the 60's and 70's. Yes it is associated with rebels and hippies but plenty of normal people use this stuff everyday and are just waiting for it to be legalized which it most likely will be soon. I do not know much about k2 but this stuff is meant to mimic the effects of marijuana using similar chemicals, it does not have the capability to make someone think so far out of the realm of their normal thought pattern that they would kill themselves. To add to this, i don't mean to upset any religious people or anyone who is involved in the church but the elders basically have there youth brainwashed that drugs are a sin and that being "clean" and "pure" is the key to getting into heaven and being a good christian person. My mother is a born again christian and i have gone to her church and seen some of these kids. They would never in a million years use drugs probably in fear that they would be cast down by there parents and there church group. David probably felt that he had failed his religious duties and his obligations as a christian when he did k2 and it probably caused him to feel overwhelmingly guilty and terrible about himself. Was this the reason he felt worthless enough to take his own life? He wouldn't just say i'm going to hell for no reason, religion must have had something to do with this. I can tell you that he wasn't hallucinating because this drug just isn't capable of causing that sort of thing to happen. Its not a hallucinogen. What it does is cause your dopamine receptors to overflow causing immense happiness and a giddy feeling. Please get educated people before you make these inaccurate conclusions. I wish people wouldn't be so judgmental and unrealistic about things like this. Of course it is a horrible tragedy that this young man took his own life and he probably did seem like a happy kid to all around him but i know plenty of kids who are happy on the outside and live totally normal lives with parents who care and provide but are still miserably depressed on the inside. I have used marijuana and never "K2" and sure the drug does affect your judgment bet never to the point where you decide it is a good idea to cause harm to yourself and taking your own life is completely unheard of when on these sort of drugs. I go to youth group at ICC and I have NEVER experienced anything like that. We have NEVER been told we would go to Hell, except if we didn't believe in God (which is also taught at my other church, which is a completely different demonination, and my Bible Study with a few other students). The youth pastor now is not named Proctor, and I do know someone who was told by a youth leader long ago that she was "possessed by demons" or something of the like, but things are much different now and she came back to the church. Religion is definitely not to blame for this tragedy.

David was a great kid. Mr. and Mrs. Rozga really raised their children right. I have never met 2 nicer boys. He just made one bad decision that tragically resulted in his life ending much too soon. Have you never made a mistake?
May I point out to everyone who has used K2 that drugs have different effects on different people? You may not personally know someone who has had a negative reaction to this drug, but there have been enough cases of hospitalizations and deaths to make K2 illegal. You shouldn't be putting anything in your bodies that aren't meant to be there in the first place

I would chalk this up to an overall lack of understanding of how to properly and safely ingest psychoactive substances. If anyone is to blame, it is his friends who were with him before he died, they were responsible for him at the time, not his parents. K-2 should probably be banned due to the health risks that arise from a product intended for aromatic purposes is used as an inhalant. K-2 should not be banned because of the risk of suicide.

However, I like to cross examine your comment if I may: #1) If Davids parents would have done "a great job" please explain the use of drugs.(and trust me if he tried k2 he had already been smoking pot) #2) If you know pot-weed-marijuana or anything about it you would know that the effect goes totaly in the oposite direction meaning...you're pretty much in love while you're high. parents and family are stuck in stage 2/3, thinking that anger and barganing against an inanimate object will have some kind of solace. sorry, it doesnt work that way, ive lost everyone i know and it never works that way. you fucked up somewhere as a parent, and your kid suffered because of it.

7.) pot should be legalized and penalized for under age use. Taxation just in teh state of iowa would hypothetically gross 2 billion dollars a year, which would be great to get us out from Under sweatty chetty's folly of governance.
8.) we have a lot more serious issues right now than somones recreational drugs. our government is ready to shut down because they cant agree on a budget for teh upcoming fiscal year because too many dumb asses want more services but dont want to pay for what they want. FIGURE IT OUT, if you want a service it has to be paid for some how.
9.) I would rather see a 1000 people on k2 than a 1000 people on booze.
10.) I have lost my mother to diabetes and she suffered horribly from pain before she died. pot could have helped ease her symptoms.
I have lost my father due to alcohol abuse, and several times there were violent episodes from boose and a few suicide attempts, and one time of him shoving a pistol in my eye socket when I was 14.
11.) I broke 13 vertebrae in my spine and neck, took 2 years to relearn how to walk again, and arthritis is a motherfucker. combine that with severe depression and ptsd from military service, and ive had therapists tell me that marijuana is the only thing keeping me from a psychotic episode many times. I work 7 day a week running my companies, and if I want to come home and sit and enjoy a bowl of k2, armageddon, cloud 10 storm, or some sweet sticky nugs I should be able to.
