The safety-minded folks at Bike KC and Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation are offering free classes to riders looking to learn the ropes of urban cycling tonight from 6 to 7 at the Westport-Roanoke Community Center.

The course focuses on the art of quickly and safely fixing a flat tire.

Next week, the city's bicycle brain trust teaches riders emergency

maneuvers and handling. Um, don't forget your helmet for that one. After

a terrible week for cyclists throughout the metro,

maybe it's time to teach drivers some safety skills.
