1. Drool over James Franco. The actor makes Allen Ginsberg seem sexy in the biopic Howl, which kicks off the 11th Annual Gay and Lesbian Film and Video Festival tonight.

2. Root for the right Missouri pro baseball team. The Kansas City Royals begin a three-day series against the St. Louis Cardinals tonight.

3. Hope that America stomps Ghana. Our boys make their next (and final if they don't win) World Cup appearance at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Check our World Cup Soccer Bars Directory for the best place to watch the action.

4. Dip into a honeypot. Local wedding biz network the Wedding Hive presents its first non-nuptial-related event on Saturday at Genevieve Flynn Studios. Honeypot Shop features crafts, jewelry and handmade pretties, plus snow cones, from local entrepreneurs.

5. Whistle at some wheels. Car shows tend to happen in convention halls and city parks. Yet, Sunday brings an automotive display to the Kansas City Art Institute campus through Art of the Car Concours.
