Let me begin by saying that I know pro-sports jerseys are expensive. But this gentleman in the Jared Allen jersey, who was spotted
last Saturday night at the Riot
Room in Westport, exemplifies classic,
lazy-dude non-style.
The evidence: It isn't football season. Red Friday is months away. And Allen hasn't worn Chiefs' red, white and yellow since he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings after the 2008 season.
But true fans have a hard time letting go.
Sports stars leapfrog from team to team so much that it's damn near
impossible to keep a jersey viable for long. My closet is rife with
examples: Being a Denver fan, I own a stale Denver Broncos Clinton Portis jersey, and my Carmelo Anthony Denver Nuggets jersey may be obsolete by the end of the NBA's off season.
Still, may I offer a suggestion for the gentleman in the dead, red Allen jersey? It's baseball season. How about something in a nice, breathable, light-blue cotton?
