  • Barack Obama is stumping in KC. Get ready for traffic jams.

Heads up tea party protesters, Phelps family members and downtown workers. Downtown is going to be a mess with President Obama in town and that means street closures, protests and general pains in the asses for working joes.

So, where should you avoid?

Definitely the Folly Theater and the Kansas City Marriott Downtown,

unless you have a ticket to the Robin Carnahan fundraisers. More

specifically, KC Police Chief Jim Corwin writes that these

six intersections are going to be shut down from 10 a.m. to 4

p.m.:

  • 11th and Broadway
  • 12th and Broadway
  • 11th

    and Central

  • 12th and Central
  • 11th and Wyandotte
  • 12th

    and Wyandotte

Other streets may be shut down, but those

haven't been released yet.

Obama is in town to raise money for

Carnahan's Senate campaign against Bible Belt Republican Roy Blunt (and

write-in candidate, white supremacist and all-around hater Frazier

Glenn Miller).

KMBC Channel 9 is livestreaming

Obama's visit, reporting that Air Force One is expected to touch

down around noon. He's scheduled to make stops at Smith Electric Vehicles

before heading

downtown for the stumping (he's also ordered up some Oklahoma Joe's).

Obama

is then scheduled for an ActBlue luncheon and

reception at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown (200 West 12th

Street) and a "grassroots

reception" at the Folly Theater (300 West 12th Street).

And

keep an eye out for these folks claiming Obama is the Antichrist.

Good thing I didn't read your post. I went down to the Folly and there was not a big crowd at all... I got to wave at the Big O as his car got to the Folly! I waved my "Oil Spill" Sign just to remind him not to forget the Oil Spill while he waste fuel darting about the country like my daughter at her first carnival rides.. FundRaiser, Golf, FundRaiser, Vacation.. Doesn't he stay in great shape running the steps of AirForce One! Kid in a candy store!

OP Realist: What is the basis for your understanding of ideology? I find your notion of Obama as a "socialist ideologue" to be dishonest, or based on ignorance. Obama is a safety-net capitalist, but still a capitalist. Now, by your standard (i.e., ideologues are always bad), we should be concerned about the economic policies of most Republicans. They believe government is always problematic, and pro-business policies are always the answer. Not to confuse you, but this is often called 'neo-liberal' economics. This approach leads to some rather illogical conclusions, such as cutting taxes on the wealthy and believing it will reduce deficits; and fighting corporate corruption by loosening regulations. It's pure ideology, short-circuiting rationality, that drives the GOP, not the in-fighting Democrats.

Ideologues of either conservative or liberal persuasion are BAD(triple underline) for America. Obama is a socialist ideologue. Do I hear any arguments to the contrary?
Get the bum out of office! Four and out!

You know, reading the spew from WBC really makes you wonder... With all that talk about oily tongues and whorish women you would think they were writing a 70's porn novel, not a call to arms for "Christians".
