I emailed Ann the other day, respectfully asking her to take the billboard down. I just got out of the Army but still live in Junction City and I see that billboard weekly. It really upset me until I looked her up online and found out what kind of nutcase she really is. Her reply to my request was, "Uh, no."

Very pretentious. Go to her online blog and you'll see how paranoid, delusional, and malicious she is. She's not helping the Republican cause.

I conronted Mrs. Barnhardt as well- because I do not agree with the Billboard , its contents and her appalling and downright criminal behavior. Because right under that Billboard is another one where she states and I quote: Marxist Wannabe" right next to a "picture" (it is more a painted variable) !
When I spoke to her about the first Billboard, she lost her cool shortly after pretty sudden and she could not explain to me in Details what exactly she could accuse him of committing or have ever committed any crime.
I also believe she put that Billboard up, not because she thinks Soldiers of this Post should "think" but because she makes it pretty clear , that she assumes Kansas are not particular smart or academically inclined , meaning Trailer Trash will suck up and agree to just anything somebody slick from Colorado is trying to feed us.
She got very rude and ignorant when she - and I quote again - called me "A Nazi that burned thousands of Jews ( I was born in Germany and have a German dialect) and I should go back to my communistic country I came from!
Which one is it? I cannot be either or...My Great Grandfather died in Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp and my husband and kids are black , so no way I could be a Nazi! I am Democrat and that count me out as a Communist.
Although she hurt my feelings somewhat...I consider the source where it came from.
She is an arrogant and very narrow minded Bottom-feeder trying to make a splash!
I am not impressed- her explanations and comeback each time I confronted her and asked valid questions , she tried to insult me instead.
Mrs. Barnhardt, we don't like you kind here- arrogant and trying to start stuff, when you cannot back up any of it. But Madam'- it is your money- none of us pay any mind to those silly Billboards anymore.
Change your Government when you run for President- until then it is Mr. Obama ! And hopefully he will put you back in your Place. It isn't here!

Looking at Witch Ann's points, sounds like she is referring to, one, George Bush. Not Barack Obama.

I just heard about your billboard and that someone didn't even want to have their billboard next to yours and moved it. I am ashamed to have anyone from KSU involved in constructing such a billboard as yours. Where were you when Bush lied to the public about going to war in Iraq and thousands of our military (Yes military from Ft. Riley). Where were you??? I am really ashamed that you are a Kansan.

Haytrucker,

We may be crazy, but I too will be prepared. Not just during any administration, but during every administration. We as American citizens have the right (though not many would exercise it) to defend our freedoms and defend ourselves from corrupt government. The only way we can do this if we ever have to is with guns. The yuppies in the city that are scared of guns and think the government could never turn on them are the crazy ones.

It's ok. If the shit ever truly hits the fan, I too will be able to feed my family w/o a grocery store. I bet there aren't 3 more posters in this blog that could say the same.

'I'm just writing so DT can include me in his next retrospective': Can't interpret Ms. Barnhardt's statements as your interpretation. Suggest you re-read and absorb what she's meaning: that many times only in retrospect, e.g. ten years or longer, can we fully fathom what transpired to change a country through a course-of-events. She's predicting dire, long-lasting damage to America from O's tenure during his first 1.5 years, and seriously cautions that our country and current freedoms can't endure another 2.5. And her billboard simply reads "Obama is a Fraud. Demand Resignation Now. God Bless America!", so how do you see she's predicting twelve years of Obama's reign, or is that your attempt at twisted sarcasm? Apparently, she, and very many others, would like to see him gone yesterday. Ever had a 'sinking feeling in your gut' or personal premonition that something very bad is about to happen? Your education, logic, personal experiences, or historical record indicates that it will inevitably happen, but you deniably hope that it doesn't. An appropriate analogy might be the purchase of a Lottery ticket: you know with statistical certainty you'll inevitably lose your bet, yet by your purchase, you still deniably hope the inevitable doesn't happen. Ms. Barnhardt and millions more sincerely hope she is wrong, but are you willing to bet our prodigy's freedoms on merely hope?

Regarding " as the Lord makes clear in the 5th Commandment " -- What is the fifth commandment? It depends on what denomination your religion is. Catholic : You shall not kill. Lutheran: You shall not murder. If neither of those apply (esp. the King James version): You shall honor your father and mother. (For a complete chart of all the differences, please see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T... .) What's the relevance of the 5th to this discussion of Obama and his ultra-liberal, racist cohorts? (Please see: http://townhall.com/columnists... .)

Finally, " God's greatest nation!" You surely should include Allah and others in that statement, because, don't you think, the Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Turks, Ottomans, and the English empire all felt that very sentiment while they were 'ridin' high'? If so, can you name one that still exists in their historical importance? If not, what do you think it will take, more importantly what are you willing to personally invest, to preserve our greatest nation for future generations? Ms. Barnhardt has already 'put up her money'.

Will accept your other statements as opinion, but remember what they're analogous with, because everyone has one.

Ann says: "Having said this, I truly hope that I am wrong and that 10 years from now you can laugh at me and call me "crazy". That would be the BEST POSSIBLE outcome, and one that I pray for daily."

10 years from now + 2 years passed = 12 years.

So, you're predicting 3 terms for Obama?! Woo hoo, there's hope for America yet. He's the smartest, he's the most committed, he's the most courageous president the U.S. of A has had in a long, long time. Shame on you for your scurrility. Respect the man -- our leader -- as the Lord makes clear in the 5th Commandment, and respect the Office of the President of the United States of America, God's greatest nation!

Wake Up! Why is is so hard to see that everytime a so called "Reform" bill is passed that it takes away from your personal freedoms and gives them to the government. These bills are full of items that have nothing to do with the stated intent such as hiring quotas, transaction taxes etc... these affect average people like you and me. I don't know about you but I am positive that I am smart enough to take care of myself. I'm doing fine as long as they leave me alone. I take full responsibility for my actions or in-actions. I don't need Mamma Obama or any other politician to look after my everyday personal choices or give me a handout. Do You?

Cripes. Everyone's so busy trying to find ways to tear America apart, instead of hold it together. All these sorts of posts/stories just make me hate Sarah Palin and every other fearmongering personality/politician/group even more.

Do I think that revolution is necessary at times? Of course. We (America) wouldn't be here without it. But do I think that we're SO FAR off, or headed down the road to self-destruction? Fuck no. This is NOT a tyranny, people. Learn a little bit about world history and watch a LOT less Glenn Beck. You want a real traitor? He's brainwashing the masses on Fox right now.

If you want to make something happen, stop fucking pointing fingers and actually contribute something of value to society. Only in America can you sow the seeds for unrest through advertising and be protected while doing so...

I'M PROUD OF YOU LABOR!. Keep standing up. The lives and health of all the American people and the World are in serious jeopardy.

Further, unemployment healthcare benefits are critically needed. But they should be provided through the Medicare program at cost, less the 65% government premium subsidy provided now to private for profit health insurance.

Congress should stop wasting hundreds of millions of dollars of taxpayer money on private for profit health insurance subsidies. Subsidies that cost the taxpayer 10x as much or more than Medicare does. Private for profit health insurance plans cost more. But provide dangerous and poorer quality patient care.

It's over. Tell congress to get the healthcare Merchants of death and injury out of the American peoples lives for good. 2010 is about THE PUBLIC OPTION!

And that CORRUPT! UNDEMOCRATIC! filibuster must GO! NOW!

I want to commend all of you for working so hard and being so strong at helping the whitehouse and congress begin to address our U.S. and Global healthcare crisis. You have been AWESOME! my fellow Americans and peoples of the World. America and the World is better and safer for it. My greatest pride is the knowledge that I am one of you. And that you really get it. You really understand the importance of it all.

There are some potentially very good things in the healthcare legislation. Especially with the reconciliation fixs. The Democrats, Bernie Sanders and the Whitehouse did a GREAT! job of fighting to produce the best healthcare legislation that they could. They have earned all our strong support. And we should give it to them.

But it was your relentless pressure and hard work that made the difference. Whatever good comes from this healthcare legislation, America and the peoples of the World will have each of you to thank. You were smart, creative, courageous and relentless. You fought together for the best legislation possible. And when you had to, you fought alone. No matter who stumbled and fell you continued to push and forge ahead. Fighting for the lives and health of the American people and the World. YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF YOUR-SELVES :-)

It may come to pass that future generations will look back on us and say that we were ALL Americas Greatest Generations. And that healthcare reform was our finest hour. You should be proud of our leaders President Obama, Speaker Pelosi, Majority Leader Reid and the many other Democratic and independent fighters for the people in congress. They proved them-self worthy of the leadership of a GREAT! PEOPLE.

But we are not done yet. This was just the beginning of healthcare reform, not the end. WE THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, ARE NOT! divided on healthcare legislation. The vast majority of you have been consistently crystal clear that this legislation does not go far enough. You want a strong Government-run Public Option CHOICE!! available to everyone on day one. And you want it NOW!

YOU MUST NOT ALLOW AN INDIVIDUAL MANDATE TO STAND WITHOUT A STRONG GOVERNMENT-RUN PUBLIC OPTION CHOICE! AVAILABLE TO EVERYONE.

WE THE PEOPLE have been crystal clear that we want an end to dependence on for-profit healthcare and the for-profit proxies called private for non-profit healthcare. The American people want the CHOICE! of a strong Government-run Public Option to replace their need or dependence on healthcare providers whose primary motivation is profit. Rather than providing the highest quality, easiest accessible and most affordable medically necessary healthcare possible. This is what the rest of the developed World has. And the American people want it too. They want healthcare ASSURANCE! Not, for-profit health insurance. And they want it NOW!

Now is the time to continue the push for a strong Government-run Public Option CHOICE! available to everyone that wants it on day one. Rationally its clear what we have to do to get this done. SUPPORT THE DEMOCRATS that supported you with a Public Option choice, and REMOVE as many republicans as you can. Not one republican in congress was willing to step across the isle to support a strong Government-run Public Option CHOICE!! available to everyone on day one. NOT ONE! Let no candidate prevail this November that does not support a Strong Government-run Public Option.

47,000 AMERICANS die each year from lack of healthcare. 120,000 die from treatable illness that dont die in other developed countries. Hundreds of thousands of you are dieing from medical accidents in a rush to profit. And Millions of you are injured. Millions more are driven into bankruptcy. All for the privilege of paying two to three times as much as any other people in the developed world for healthcare. HOGWASH!

Additionally, tens of thousands of you and your children were killed and millions sickened and injured from a terror attack with H1N1 (swine flu). Released on the American people and the World by the for-profit healthcare industry. All in an attempt to panic and frighten you into accepting the oxymoronic criminal enterprise of private for-profit healthcare (The most costly, deadly, dangerous, and disgraceful product sold in America). H1N1 is still sickening people and killing them. Especially children, the young and the middle aged. And there will be a third wave. These are the terrorist you need to worry about the most. Even the so-called international terrorist would not do something so INSANE! But greed driven medical profiteers would and did.

Apparently as far as republicans in GOVERNMENT are concerned, YOU! my fellow Americans CAN JUST DROP DEAD! Including their own family members. Fools!... Hundreds of thousands of you, and possibly millions of you will die from the long-term effects of your infection and poisoning with H1N1.

So my fellow Human Beings. Rest-up, Take good care of the basics (Balanced nutrition, hydration, exercise, rest and POSITIVE emotional supports). Then wade back into the FIGHT! for a strong Government-run Public Option CHOICE! available to everyone on day one. Drug re-importation, Abolishment or strong restrictions on patents for biologic and prescription drugs. And government controlled and negotiated drug and medical cost. You must take back control of your healthcare system from the Medical Industrial Complex. You MUST do it NOW! This is a matter of National and Global security. There can be NO MORE EXCUSES.

God Bless You My Fellow Human Beings. Im glad to know of you. And proud to be one of you.

See you on the battle field.

Sincerely

jacksmith WorkingClass :-)

@Ghent: watch out buddy you almost admitted to the reality of politics in that last part of your last sentence, "that your views seem just as extreme and crazy to most people". Buy the ticket take the ride. You can plug in whatever you want for the "ticket", living in the USA, taking part in a voting system for presidency (assuming you voted), etc. Bush was president for 8 years full of Liberal's spouting the same shit that Republican's are now, so tough shit, deal with it. After that, Democrats took control of spending from 2008 on, and that includes Obama, as a US Senator, who voted FOR those budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he helped inherit it from himself. Weirdly, this has turned in to one of the more honest debates between the "constitutional conservatives" and the left that gapes at them. By honest I mean that there's much less name calling and much more listening than usual, although it is (of course) the liberal commenters who call names here.
I'm conservative in east Kansas, and it's a place that offers plenty. (DT, "Aggieville" is a pretty common nickname for Manhattan, Kansas, and I've heard plenty of western Kansas people use it.) But every time I read complaints like Ann or DT's I worry that they go so far so fast that they make the rest of us conservatives appear reactinary and crazy, a word that gets thrown around too mych. I will admit that if libs had talked this way about Bush I would have considered them treasonous. I detest Obama's policies but I am uncomfortable by claims that he is a fraud or a traitor and I fear they do much more harm than good.

'Ponty' and 'the alarmist': You can call her 'crazy', or you can call her 'looney tunes', but don't you dare call her a hypocrite: she's 'put her money where her mouth is' by funding the installation of her Billboard, and invested personal time and expense (sans Government subsidy) for her website Barnhardt Capital Management, Inc. (http://barnhardt.biz/index.cfm... for all the world to see.

Your tagging of simple derogatory names onto someone you don't know personally or, just as importantly, professionally, is a simple act, although which it may be required for persons of your intellectual capacity. Doubt you'll ever meet her personally, but, if you have the courage and willing to 'put your time (money) to where your mouth is', suggest you educate yourselves with Ms. Barnhardt on a professional level at her website - that should be simple enough for you both!

'East of Topeka': Unsure what you meant by " I could balem [sic - http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/...] her on Denver ", so I'll assume you meant to type: " I could blame her [viewpoints] on [having lived in] Denver " And I'm guessin' your reference to "Aggieville" implies a colloquialism (http://www.merriam-webster.com... for any/all cities in a predominately agricultural State, so I'm again guessin' you also live in, or near, an "Aggieville" if you're a Kansas resident - no wonder you "love it". (IMO and having never lived in Kansas, just a passin'-through observation, I haven't seen much that East of Topeka has on J.C., except more people, traffic, and toll roads (http://ksturnpike.com/files/10...

'Mark': Isn't it? But then, we indeed should ask you to elucidate what "intellectual tools" you reference. I've always felt that most 'plain' assertions are merely personal opinions, only with some more educated than others, that, on their surface don't require logical argument as they're covered under the 1st Amendment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/F... Furthermore, from my experience with Ms Barnhardt's website, I've found her to provide adequate references or sources for her beliefs/conclusions, at least to my cursory review; and, I'd further 'bet a dollar to your donut' that she'd be more than happy to personally provide you with more logical arguments than you'd care to explore if you'd but ask her. BTW, please enlighten all of us with logical arguments re your 'plain assertion' of "When Bush was the White House occupant, this kind of talk was considered treasonous.", because I'm not comin' up with any such 'treasonous talk' during a Bush (either) administration (most likely "this kind of talk" is also germane (http://www.thefreedictionary.c... the 1st Amendment).

'George': Oh, don't most liberal Democrats love to believe and repeat that incessantly? Apparently you do! (I use the descriptor 'liberal' because that means they're more than anxious to be liberal with re-distributing other people's valuables.) The Washington Post and Obama babble about him inheriting a huge deficit from Bush, blah-blah-blah. Amazingly, a lot of people swallow this nonsense. Only proposed Budgets originate from the White House: the proposed Budgets are then massaged, adjusted, manipulated, and controlled by Congress (the direct creators of deficit spending). The party that's controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democratic Party. They controlled the budget process for FYs 2008, 2009, 2010, and will control FY 2011, maybe (because the DEM leaders have yet to submit a Budget, but then that's a 'hole' 'nother story - please pardon the pun). In that first year, 2008, the DEMs still had to contend with Bush, which compelled them to compromise on spending when he got tough on increases. For FY-2009 though, the House (Pelosi) and the Senate (Reid) bypassed Bush entirely, passing Continuing Resolutions to keep our government floating until Obama could take office; at that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the FY-2009 budget, and the behemoth for FY-2010 since.

And where was Obama during this time? He was a member of Congress that controlled/passed all of the Budgets, i.e., the deficit spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete FY-2009. The Democrats inherited one Bush-deficit, it was for FY-2007, the last of the Republican-controlled budgets. That FY-2007 deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats took control of spending from 2008 on, and that includes Obama, as a US Senator, who voted FOR those budgets. If Obama inherited anything, he helped inherit it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama should honestly be saying is: I inherited deficits that I voted FOR, and then I approved to expand that deficit several-fold since. For more enlightened background, please see United States Public Debt (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/U...

'Justin': I would guess not, but see her website for email address - no doubt, she could confirm or deny her involvement with the "MARXIST" billboard.

'maroon': Please re-read the original blog because I only saw your distorted inference: "I like that you asked her if she realized that her arguments are not persuasive to most people." The closest I read was Mr. Scherstuhl's quote: "I asked if she might persuade more people if she didn't accuse Obama of intentionally destroying the economy." " might persuade more people " is not the same as " not persuasive to most people." However, if your inference of "most people" means only other like-minded liberal DEMs, I would accept that as merely your opinion.

Additionally, just why do you feel " I am not sure you should be helping her or treat her so respectfully!" I perceived the tenor of Mr. Scherstuhl's blog more as apologetic to Ms. Barnhardt vice "helping her", again for not knowing her personally, or professionally, before blasting his piece to the world (but then, he couldn't because he didn't yet know the billboard's owner). And considering the foregoing huge philosophical divide of the Commenters, I'd say he accomplished at least one intent of stirring-the-pot for these discourses!

More importantly, why, again in your opinion, should Mr. Scherstuhl not treat Ms. Barnhardt so respectfully? Doubt she's committed any felonies (probably few, if any, misdemeanors), likely pays her taxes (maybe grudgingly), appears to be more intelligent and more Christian than most self-professed I've ever met, another bet she hasn't missed voting in any eligible elections, and you should grasp from her website that she cares deeply about the welfare of our Country, our Declaration of Independence (http://www.archives.gov/exhibi... our Constitution, and our freedoms earned from much sacrifice by many. Can you say as much for yourself in deserving to be treated so respectfully?

'Drinker': As Ms. Barnhardt is entitled to her opinion, so are mine and yours with the caveat of understanding what opinions are compared with, because everyone has one.

Are you sure you understand the meaning, and ramifications, of "true socialism". I don't believe it's just "Anti Obama people" who " throw the word around in the wrong context 99% of the time." Regardless, how many societies based on "true socialism" have ever existed that you can elicit? If you can espouse any, how many of those were remotely successful for over 234 years? Good luck with that!

If you check her website, I'm sure you'll believe that Ms. Barnhardt has not only heard of the Patriot Act, but I'll safely bet a beer to your donut, Drinker, that she knows it better than over 90% of our population, including you and me. Regardless, do you know she wasn't "worried about American's [sic] rights when that was being passed!"?

'edmo': Right on. Go Broncos! (I just couldn't help myself OR the devil made me do it: pick either.)

'Megan' and 'maroon': Believe you're both correct: we "still have freedoms", but are you truly feeling secure those freedoms will still be there in a few more years? Or for your children and grandchildren to enjoy?

'the alarmist': " gun control (to my disappointment) has been one issue he has barely touched It hasn't happened, and I'm betting it never will, either." Although many millions of law-abiding gun owners and defenders of the 2nd Amendment won't empathize with your disappointment, don't you honestly think the O has been busy enough with attending to, or creating by lack of attention, other crises these past 1.5 years to tackle a currently unwinnable battle head-on. I suspect the O's M.O. would be to let the DOJ and his liberal appointees to the Supreme Court whittle away at the 2nd Amendment subversively for the next 2.5 years.

"I wish Ms. Barnhardt could cite one example of Obama trying to enact gun control legislation." Obama is surely a liberal Democrat, and don't all such like-minded persons have gun control legislation in their sights, all the time? See her website for email address - bet she can cite example(s) to satiate your personal wish.

"If anything, the business interests in the firearm industry should be toasting with champagne after the election of every democratic president, because their pockets will get lined with cash after the inevitable spike in small-arms sales that occurs, since the gun-owning populace has been brainwashed to a knee-jerk 'ohmigawd, the gun ban is a-comin!' every time." Given you feel this way, I'm confident you were toasting champagne right along with them, because you surely 'put your money where your mouth is' and capitalized on this knowledge leading to "an inevitable spike" in sales with your ammo and firearm stock purchases before the election. Good for you, and thanks for the tip - I'll keep it in mind for 2012 - those spikes you mention should also work in reverse!

'lustable': "of COURSE the guy calling himself "the alarmist" is the most reasonable in the thread." Is that irony, or a conundrum for you? Or maybe, he really believes he's "the alarmist".

"Kansas has gone plum nuts." Don't think it's just Kansas, Toto, for I know many law-abiding protectors of the 2nd Amendment, in many States, who would disagree with 'the alarmist' and you. Guess you might say, "There are plum nuts all over this country!" Possibly you'd prefer: "So many States have gone to the dogs!"

'able man': Wait, this doesn't deserve a response, but it's too late now!

'Bare 'n' Blue': He's right, Ponty, "that weird thrill going up your leg is Marxism" and it's going for your wallet, your children's and your grand-children's wallets, AND our collective freedoms.

I don't consider myself a crazy, a looney tune, or a radical, unless it comes down to protecting our Constitution. I do consider myself a Conservative Patriot, partly because of my background living in Aggeyvilles for 34 years in Campbell, Hastings, Beatrice, and Lincoln, Nebraska, 1.5 years in Mason, Ohio, and, some may say, the Denver Metro Aggeyville area for 25+ years; also, partly as much for my 25 years in the Military, and having traveled to/through Mexico, Holland, Greece, Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Italy, Switzerland, Ireland, Cypress, Kuwait, Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, the U.A.E., and Qatar. Admittedly I've been very fortunate because I seldom felt endangered, and thankful that I've seen many foreign countries and their inhabitants' living conditions, enabling a most sincere appreciation for my birth in this country.

National Guard military members are required to oath: "I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the State of (STATE NAME) against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of (STATE NAME) and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. So help me God." The oath itself has a long existence dating back to 1775, and has remained significantly unchanged since 1789 when it was approved under our Constitution by Act of Congress (http://usmilitary.about.com/od...

Though now retired, my oath is voluntarily a life-time oath, and takes on special meaning as it pertains to: " I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the State of (STATE NAME) against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; " The oath doesn't specifically require support and defense of Congressional members, other federal agencies, or even the President, only so far as that may be required by other Constitutional provisions. Interestingly, States' Constitutions were meant by law to be as important as our US Constitution.

The remaining part of the oath " I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the Governor of (STATE NAME) and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to law and regulations. " is also very interesting, in that, a President is no higher on the level of importance than a State's Governor. And the admonition for following orders of a President, a Governor, and other higher officers has a caveat of " according to law and regulations. " Under current law, and the Manual for Courts-Martial (http://usmilitary.about.com/cs... "An order requiring the performance of a military duty or act may be inferred to be lawful and it is disobeyed at the peril of the subordinate. This inference does not apply to a patently illegal order, such as one that directs the commission of a crime." Consequently, if an illegal order is directed by higher officers, a Governor, or even a President, military members are expected, even legally obligated, to defy the order.

We're also advised in the Military that members aren't expected, or required, to respect any particular person, only to respect the office (rank or official duty) an individual holds. Members are required to respect the position of a President, but certainly don't have to respect or blindly agree with the person. Because persons in political office are vastly more transient than Constitutions, and may even change philosophies in office, let alone the empirical evidence that persons in power don't always use logic, intellect, or historical, constitutional relevance for decisions by apparently operating from their personal opinions and political leanings, I prefer to commit my allegiance to the longer-lived.

I won't speak to Ms. Barnhardt's passionate beliefs or opinions, other than to admit she's more intelligent, well-read, and braver than I. She has my agreement that Obama is a dangerous political power for his far-left-leaning choices of like-minded liberal agency and Federal Court appointees. Further, where/when/how did the establishment of 'Czars' become vogue, let alone meeting Constitutional provisions? However, I'm more concerned with liberal DEM voters who place such people as Reid, Pelosi, Frank, Waters, and such others in Congress who approve incompetent or unscrupulous directors of highly important institutions like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc. Finally, I suggest everyone trust the millions of law-abiding gun owners and protectors of the Constitution, especially our 2nd Amendment, when we profess Molon Labe - I'm bettin' we're pretty serious about that!

Someone commented on how Obama hasn't even touched on gun control, thats because he hasn't. He has Hillary doing that! They are attempting to bypass congress and the 2nd amendment by signing international treaty through the UN to disarm our country like most European countries. We wont even have a say in it!I have yet to here of Obama's birth certificate surfacing yet, so there is no proof of him being born in this country, which is supposed to be a requirement to even run for president. And there are still millions of dollars of canpaign money that is still undisclosed as to where it came from. Hell, I have a friend that does business overseas and he was told by his business connections in France if was not voting for Obama that they would cease to to business. Obama is bringing this country to its knees. Setting us up to be overrun by the muslim facsists or a revolution within this country. Hopefully the revolution comes first! Obama needs to go!! I WILL GIVE UP MY GUN WHEN THEY PRY IT FROM MY COLD DEAD FINGERS! But I will take a couple hundred of them socialist basturds with me and maybe a few crooked politicians also!!

Hey BEN....never lied to myself...never will. Your logic on the oil spill vs Katrina might hold water to some, but really it is comparing apples to oranges. If you don't like politics then why are you reading this article???? Katrina's devastation started along an area miles and miles wide....this oil spill came from one source. The logistics don't even compare. Had this President put at least one person in charge to oversee what was being done, perhaps the damage could have been reduced. Unfortunately, we will never know. Ask those people in LA what they feel!!! Even James Carville was mad at Obama's lack of action.

I have come to the conclusion that politicians suck. Some suck more than others but none really have the publics best interest at heart. They are all about themselves and their careers. I am most definitely a moderate, hated Bush, haven't been impressed with Obama thus far. Until politicians stay in the middle where most people sit we are doomed.

My comment about the Patriot Act was not blaming a particular president or party. Just a statement.

First, Obama voluntarily renewed the Patriot Act.

Second, I hate politics 100% because when has it ever been a different story than: Republican president equals liberal/democratic public distaste all around or Democratic president equals republican/conservative distaste all around???? Same story different broadcast company's interests. So BUCKSHOT JONES, don't lie to yourself.

How is freedom of speech denied in the slightest bit in this situation?

And finally, does anyone really think it's Obama's fault for the extent of the oil spill's devastation? B/C if you do revert to my previous paragraph and insert "Katrina" and "Oil Spill" accordingly.

I always find it funny that usually Liberals want to shout down anyone opposing their views and it is normally Conservatives that are willing to lay down their lives so that everyone has the ability to speak freely. I appreciate that Alan has views that I don't agree with and he is more than entitled to them. Some of the Liberal responses to Ann's response are funny to read, but I must confess their arguments lack any kind of fire power in my eyes. Ann, remember pink hearts rule!!!!

I still don't understand how these looney tunes keep saying that President Obama is coming to take away their guns.

In fact, gun control (to my disappointment) has been one issue he has barely touched during his administration! I wish Ms. Barnhardt could cite one example of Obama trying to enact gun control legislation. It hasn't happened, and I'm betting it never will, either.

If anything, the business interests in the firearm industry should be toasting with champagne after the election of every democratic president, because their pockets will get lined with cash after the inevitable spike in small-arms sales that occurs, since the gun-owning populace has been brainwashed to a knee-jerk 'ohmigawd, the gun ban is a-comin!' every time.

It's funny that the fairest reporting on what anti Obama people actually believe comes from the most liberal paper in KC. If the Star reported this they would pretend to be even handed but skew it, this reporter doesn't pretend he isn't liberal and then he lets her have her full say. He's wrong about everything but he doesn't claim to be an elite authority like the MSM does.

Most Americans do not understand what true socialism is. Anti Obama people throw the word around in the wrong context 99% of the time.

Has Ann heard of the Patriot Act? Maybe she should have been worried about American's rights when that was being passed!
