A recent Rasmussan poll shows U.S. Sen. Sam Brownback with a hefty lead in the Kansas governor's race. Brownback, a Republican, leads Democrat Tom Holland by 59-31 margin in survey of likely voters.
Without a doubt, Brownback is the favorite. But can a poll be trusted if it indicates that people in their 20s gaze upon Brownback as they might a god-king who provides free cable TV and gynecological exams?
The blog Dome on the Range says it's seen a more detailed version of the Rasmussan poll. And when the results break down according to demographic group, they get screwy.
According to Rasmussan, Kansans between the ages of 18 and 29 make the Tea Party look like a bunch of social workers. One hundred percent of those surveyed plan to vote for Brownback, want the health-care reform repealed and disapprove of Barack Obama.
The weirdness does not end with poll respondents in their late teens and 20s. Dome on the Range finds other dubious claims in the Rasmussan poll, including the assertion that 43 percent of black voters in Kansas are part of the Tea Party, a movement NAACP President Ben Jealous branded as divisive during a speech delivered in Kansas City on Monday.
Dome on the Range says the Rasmussan poll is "100% full of holes." Except the part about Brownback beating Holland when voters of all ages go the the polls in November. That's going to happen.

ICC Underwriters poll show Brownback has a 50 % chance of winning the primary based on recent polls taken from over 5, 000 Kansans. Kansas voters were unaware of Joan Heffington was running for Kansas Governor and voters only thought Brownback was the presumptive winner. The newspapers had a lot to do with it. Our poll show the republicans have a choice and do not have to support there parties loyalty, since there are two republicans running for Governorship. What is interesting, the women and the veterans are voting for Joan Heffington as well as the senior citizens. One voter conveyed, when I am in the voting booth, the word Brownback comes to mind because of name recognition, but I am a women and I will vote for a women over a man anytime. If I were Brownback, I would be worried. A 50 /50 chance to win the primary is anyones game.
