  • Larry Schnackenberg has been missing for more than a week.

Update II (10:35 a.m. July 16): Divers searched Shawnee Mission Lake late into the night for Larry Schnackenberg, but ended their search without finding a trace of the missing Lenexa man.

Meanwhile, Schnackenberg's daughter has postponed her wedding -- which was originally scheduled for Saturday -- as the search continues for her father, KMBC Channel 9 reported. Not surprising news there given the nightmare that's playing out for the Schnackenberg family.

Schnackenberg disappeared July 8. His white 2003 Ford Explorer was found

parked outside of shelter No. 8 at

Shawnee Mission Park. His wallet and cell phone were still in the

vehicle. It's a bizarre case with Schnackenberg's friends saying he

didn't normally go to the park.

Schnackenberg's family started Facebook

and Twitter pages to

help with the search.

The night before Larry

Schnackenberg vanished, he wrote the toast for his daughter's wedding.

Update I (11:02 a.m. July 13): Larry Schnackenberg's

disappearance gets even more bizarre the more we learn. Like the night

before he disappeared, the father of five was up late writing the toast

for his daughter's wedding -- which was scheduled for Saturday, the Star

reported today.

Add that to Schnackenberg's 2003 Ford Explorer showing up in Shawnee

Mission Park -- a place Schnackenberg wouldn't normally go -- with his

cell phone, wallet, checkbook and computer all left inside the unlocked

car, and it makes the case is even more eerie.

A family friend told the Star that they believe it's "foul play,"

but police say they don't have any evidence showing this is anything more

than a missing persons case. Either way, it's a mystery that's causing a lot of heartache.

If you've seen Schnackenberg, call the TIPS Hotline at

816-474-8477 or the Lenexa police at 913-477-7301.

Nothing but a big scam artist who ruined his daughters wedding, caused a kog of people anguish and drew a bunch of attention to himself for very selfish reasons!!!

I lived at 4800 W 61st Terr in Mission in 1975-1978. There was a Schnackenberg family in the block east of us on the south side of the street (1/2 block west of Roe). I think it was Larry. He is the same age I am and when I saw his picture today when I was in Overland Park I told my daughter I know that man before I even looked at the name. I used to work at Mission State Bank. Live about an hour away now so I hadn't even known this happened. You are all in my prayers.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Schnackenberg and his family. I do not know them personally but I can sympathize with them. My father's birthday was July 8th. So when I saw this article, it hit home. My father went missing on July 23rd, 2000. He was found on July 25th, 2000. He had fallen in the water at the marina where he worked and drowned and no one there knew it. I miss him every day. I hope and pray Mr. Schnackenberg is found alive and healthy. I will be praying for his safe return. It is a devestating thing to wonder where your loved one is and if they are alright. God bless.

What about satellite imaging in conjunction with his cell phone during that day?

I pray that he is alive and well. Until this happends to your loved one or loved ones, we can not imagine what this must be like for the family. The fact that his family members do not know where he is breaks my heart. Please pray for his safe return and pray for the family and loved ones who are searching for him to have the strength to do what they need to do to find this man. I pray this in the name of Jesus.

why isn't anyone saying the obvious... that men meet up in public parks for sex (KCTV5 did a story on it), but it seems like something went terribly wrong?

I do not know him but after reading story I wonder if his car was placed in shawnee mission park to mislead the search for him. Just wanted to contribute my viewpoint

Larry is a healthy, happy father of 5 young adults, who has been an active part of the community for years. He has a daughter who is scheduled to get married this weekend, and no one can believe that he has gone missing of his own accord. Please keep Larry and his family in your thoughts and prayers...

Larry used to live across the street from my grandparents, Bill and Shirley Day in Mission, KS. I remember him as being such a happy man. He always was dressed nice, had a smile on his face and was a great neighbor and friend to my grandparents. He was married to Judy and she was a kind, sweet lady. At the time they only had two kids, I believe. I was in my teens when I knew the family. My grandparents have since moved out to the town where I live, but Larry is in our thoughts and prayers. We hope the family gets some closure on what has happened to him. Good people such a tragedy to hear about this.
