Kansas City's Tow Services Division has its monthly unclaimed vehicle auction on Tuesday. While most cars are in rough shape (their owners, after all, never bothered to retrieve them), there are a few gems in the lot. Auction manager Steve Dawson showed me some of the more notable vehicles.

This 1975 Sea Sprite was the only boat I found in the lot. Just remember, you're responsible for taking everything inside the vehicle with you.

Not surprisingly, Dawson says the driver didn't survive the crash.

Items in good condition, like this four-wheeler, will command pretty good money, Dawson says.

Parts are on the block too, like this stolen truck engine.

Dawson predicts that this 2010 Chevy Camaro, despite being a little rough around the edges, will be a hot item.

Some cars don't feel like they belong among unclaimed cars. This Chevy van was clearly well-loved with custom paint and accessories.

Dawson says that the auction easily will make the city more than $100,000. Every three months, the division holds a "premium auto auction" of late model cars that are in good condition and come with the keys.
