Kansas City may be known best for its barbecue, but the city has another draw: its fountains.
The J.C. Nichols Memorial Fountain greets you as you enter the Plaza from the east on 47th Street. The 80 foot wide fountain is majestic in its size and subject matter: four horses and their riders in various acts of battle.
Pitch Flickr pool member Adam Bales thought it would make a great subject for one of his first pictures with a digital SLR camera.
"This picture was taken back in the summer of 2006," Bales explains. "It was super sunny, but I happened to luck out and get that shot."
J.C. Nichols Fountain was the subject of another photo Bales took more recently, but we like the drama of his first picture.
