  • A man was shot here Sunday.

A shooting Sunday night wasn't far from Pitch headquarters.

A man was shot in the chest around 11:40 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses saw two black males running westbound from the scene.

At last word, the victim, a 29-year-old man, was listed in serious but stable condition.

A witness told police that he was walking northbound on Main when he

heard a loud "pop." The victim was laying in the road with the two

suspects standing over him. The suspects ran as the victim staggered to

his feet before collapsing on the northwest side of the intersection

If you have a tip, call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.

As the violence escalates -- the homicide count stands at 62,

well above this time in 2008 (60) and 2007 (49) but trailing last year

(68) -- you gotta wonder when the mayor, council and other leaders will

finally address the situation.

Oh no, you're going to get pounded for being a racist, despite the fact that your input can be backed by statistics. If you use statistics, like crime and employment statistics, they'll come back and say that the statistics are flawed b/c they were put together by a group of racists or that the cops are just racist. My username reflects a few of the names I've been called by blacks defending their position with statements like, "You don't know what it's like here". Like you, I was making blunt suggestions about how and why they still choose to live this way. They then accuse you of being racist, then they start slamming you with racial slurs......I've given up on them just as they've given up on themselves.

Yes, many different immigrant groups have come and done very well for themeselves. I personally don't know any blacks like the ones we read about in the newspapers. The blacks I know live where I live b/c they wanted to get away from that shit!!

Well above 2008? Justin have you ever taken a statistics class? You need to find the standard deviation of murders over the last 20 years and then test 62 against 60 to see if there is a statistically significant difference. I would bet a google dollars, that 62 is not "well above" 60.

Finally, what the hell are the leaders going to do about it? The neighborhoods need to quit having babies they cannot afford, get off the drugs, and start trying for crying out loud. Then the killing will stop. Start showing some damn pride within yourself. There have been numerous GREAT examples of african americans succeeding in life, learn from them. Immigrants over the last few decades seem to continually out perform african americans. The aa's need to start trying and stop waiting for the "check".
