The fight between Todd Tiahrt and Jerry Moran for Sam Brownback's soon-to-be-vacant U.S. Senate seat has been plenty ugly in recent weeks. The two Republicans are trying to out-conservative the other. But only one man is conservative enough to win the heart of the most important vigilante leader and Nazi sympathizer of the last decade.
In July 22 press release, Jim Gilchrist endorsed Tiahrt.
"With his strong track record of demanding the Federal Government to enforce our laws and secure our borders, Todd Tiahrt is the only candidate who truly has a committed stand on the issues of immigration reform and border security," the grammatically challenged Gilchrist writes in his endorsement announcement. "Kansas needs Todd Tiahrt as it next US Senator to end the chaos of illegal immigration."
Gilchrist is the founder and president of the Minuteman Project -- that armed vigilante group that hangs out on the border, waiting to bust illegal immigrants and make fake videos of themselves murdering people for fun. The Southern Poverty Law Center reported that Gilchrist also accepted help from white supremacists during his own 2005 run for the House, so he's a guy you absolutely want on your side.
Just to drive home how big of a deal this endorsement is, here's Gilchrist describing the Minuteman Project to the OC Register:

At no point did he ever reference being a killing, gun-toting, machismo. In fact, what he said was that the United States should protect it's borders- or boarders for the mildly fucking retarded and protection- whether you are a beaner here legally or illegally is not a cornerstone of the Neoconservative beliefs. The intellectually challenged author, Peter Rugg, of the article here is simply an amateur propagandist.
The Minuteman Project condemns all racists, fascists, and certainly all "dirty" journalists like Peter Rugg.
The Minuteman Project did not make any video of anyone killing illegal aliens. The Minuteman Project was responsible for getting the idiots (aka Mountain Minutemen led by Robert Crooks), who made that silly video, kicked off the border permanently.
The Southern Poverty Law Center(SPLC), inasmuch as it may have good intentions in protecting at least some of us who reside in the USA, falls short in its overzealous attempt to defame persons unjustly as a means of luring naive donors into sending it money. It is as much of a professional fund-raising company as it is an advocate of civil rights for certain, limited segments of our society.
The SPLC money-making model sounds somewhat similar, in my opinion, to the despicable money-making tactics of William Gheen's ALIPAC in North Carolina; in my opinion a lunatic organization that routinely seems to declare war on anyone who will not send it their hard-earned life savings or goose-step to the ALIPAC Brown Shirt mentality.
There are other racial supremacy groups in the immigration law enforcement advocacy movement who are no better than the KKK, Black Panthers, Brown Berets, or La Raza. The California Coalition for Immigration Reform (CCIR) in Huntington Beach, Ca. and Jeff Schwilk's San Diego Minutemen (SDMM), in my opinion, are comprised of many participants who are complete buffoons, bigots, racists, and downright ignoramuses with criminal mentalities....much like amateur propagandist Peter Rugg, the �dirty� journalist who wrote the poorly scripted article we are commenting about.
If we are to resolve our nation's problems in a respectable, fair, and equitable manner, Americans, then we should do so in a respectable, fair, and equitable way that encourages the universal application of the rule of law.
Unwarranted mudslinging by irresponsible journalists, and common to scoundrels without a ray of hope, never solves a problem. It only proliferates the wrath and mutual acrimony from both sides of the issue.
