Lawrence gets booze-free bar on wheels ... what's the point?

  • Why would you want to pedal a bar around without booze?

The last thing I want to do when I'm drinking is pedal 15 of my drunk friends around. I'll pass. So I can't imagine wanting to pedal their asses around sober.

But that's what's going on in Lawrence (and will be for the next year). Luke Stone borrowed the idea after seeing the Pedal Pub in Minneapolis and decided to bring it to Lawrence, according to the Lawrence Journal-World. So if you see a 16-seat, pedal-powered bar on the street, that's what's up.

Stone calls it Pedal Hopper, and

his bar on wheels is alcohol-free. Huh? Stone is trying to fix that

problem, but the state of Kansas forbids it. He plans to operate the

rolling dry bar for a year.

Here's your future wife trying it

out.

Having second thoughts?

Pedal Hopper costs $140 an hour with

a two-hour minimum. So at least $280. Only in Lawrence.

Stone is now operating bikes in Lawrence, KS, Kansas City, MO, and two in Denver, CO.  The parent company out of St. Paul is selling these bikes and business licenses like hot cakes.  If you haven't done a pub crawl on a Pedal Hopper yet, I highly recommend it!  If your fat and write blogs all day, this may not be for you:)

Yeah, you're right...riding around Lawrence, down Mass St, barhopping, summer day, with 15 of your friends, doing something you've never done before...that sounds awful...and I have to pay a whole $10 per hour! I saw people on it hopping from tailgate to tailgate at the KU football game...I was SO glad I wasn't on there laughing, hooting, and hollering with them.

the video is false representation of the pedal hopper. please be a better journalist and site you sources and not misdirect readers just because you have an opinion. it much easier to find the negative in something, especially when you don't know much about it. also the pedal hopper is a completely different experience than the typical "badass party bus." it is a new spin on an old show.

That seems like a fuck ton of money for that to me, although a cool set up. Shit you can get bad ass party bus for that kinda money.

I think this can only work at that price, if you can drink on it. Otherwise the novelty just fades so fast. How do limo drivers serve alcohol?
