  • Michael Lewis is accused of killing Curley Tyler.

Curley Tyler's body was discovered by his son outside of the

Cottonwood

Apartments on Easter Sunday. Tyler had been shot to death and robbed (court documents say of a cell phone or cash) in a Cadillac

Escalade. Now police believe they have the culprit.

Johnson County prosecutors charged 22-year-old Michael Trevon Lewis yesterday with first-degree murder and aggravated robbery.

Lewis was named a "person of interest" just days after the murder. He

was arrested in Long

Beach, California, on an unrelated charge.

Lewis' first

appearance is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. He's being held on $1 million

bond.

Trying to come around,

Thank you for accepting people are not defined by race but by their character. Unfortunately, some crimes tend to seem more prevalent in some races than another. I will do my best to continue to lead by example because the news does not focus on people that are commendable. Society will believe minorities are a negative influence on America because of the mass of people chosen to grace these pages. I fortunately was raised by an amazing woman that taught me to make my judgements regarding people on a case by case basis. I ask the people that do not practice this belief to try it every once in a while. People may surprise you. The only 100% truth about the evil that has consumed this world is that human beings are the cause of it. Remember how many fingers are pointing back in the direction of the one judging without cause or knowledge. I wonder sometimes how some people can see the spot of dirt on someone else's white clothing when their own is covered in mud. I will keep believing there are good people everywhere because you obviously are one, *trying to come around*. The mere fact that you are trying to separate crime and color is wonderful. This is exactly why I treat everyone I meet at work with respect because you never know who you are talking to or what they believe.. until they choose to display their ignorance. I do not commend mistreatment of people, whether it means homicide, robbery, molestation, infidelity, or something as simple as slander. All sins are equal and I assure everyone Hell will be filled with a melting pot of people. Each race and ethnicity will be equally represented. And by then, skin color will not be an issue considering flesh cannot withstand continuous fire. Racism, whether it be a firm belief or retaliatory, will surely reserve a spot there if one would like to make that an eternal home.

Yeah its crazy to see how alot of white people look at us black folks when yeah we do have a lot of drama or ignorance in our life, and the choices us some of us young black men make isnt the smartest at all. But white folks have the nerve to dawg us out on here, our local white people at that, it just shows how prejudice people are in our city. but what you white folks don't know or care to understand is the situation and problems we go through everyday. Not to be mean but most white folks grow up with no real problems, you guys are silver spoon fed, never needing or wanting for nothing, both parents have jobs, pretty much an easy lifestyle. But when your born black and born a black man at that, life is a struggle and lesson, my father worked hard for 20 years almost to take care of me and my family, 2 son 2 girls, and my mother, as soon as he wanted to open a nice elegant business downtown the city(white ppl) did whatever they had to do to kill his business and dream by trying to tie him to illegal activity and say he didnt have permits. basically it made us go bankrupt brake my family up, and start all over because he was a black man trying to own a business downtown. That showed me right there that white folks don't want to see us prosper, now not all white folks are like that, but a great majority is. i could go on for days what a black man goes through in life just to try live right in white mans world but who really cares? not whites!

Waiting patiently,

Outstanding response! Of all posts in response to racist comments made by whites, you're only the 2nd to combat the comments while maintaing your integrity, w/o the caps lock on, and in a language we can all understand.

Congratulations on rising above. I teeter back and forth. Sometimes I'm overwhelmed when blacks cry racism then come back with racism. It makes me want to make stupid racist comments in an effort to get back at them. I think your approach is much more effective and says a great deal about your character. Continue to set a good example for other blacks in the community so they'll stop shooting each other over stupid shit like this. I'll stay in my white community and try to convince some of these dipshits to stop molesting children and that all blacks are not bad.

Also, remind blacks (as I do whites) that they cannot effectively combat racism with more racism.

Well, thank you earth-loving advocate for making me realize during my years on earth, I have actually been dreaming of my success. On this site, all black people are the same.. So I will contact my university and return my degree that I received with honors. And yes, it is a bachelor's degree from a Division 1 school. I will make sure I give back all of the awards I have received as well because I am black. I am, however, waiting patiently for the opportunity to meet people like yourself that assume all black people are the same while I am at work. Remember, when you call for help or decide to break the law, I may be the one that appears. But, thank goodness, I was raised to be proud of who I am and will treat you with the same respect as anyone on this earth, even if you do not deserve it. I will not allow your ignorance to dictate my actions towards others that may share your skin tone. But I will pray for you, as well as the family of Curly. May he rest in peace and be free from this biased and ignorant world.

Please don't put this article in print. I see it everyday. Instead, print something like this: 5 Ways a Black Man can can increase his chances for a Job.

1) Look for one. A job is not going to fall into your lap. Smoking weed and playing Madden 2010 on the stolen Playstation is not considered looking for a job.
2) Bathe. Yep, you smell like reefer and Colt 45. It will significantly improve your chances of getting a job if you don't smell like shit.
3) Shave. That nappy fuzz with lent stuck in it is downright disgusting. (This goes for Black Women too).
4) Hooked on Phonics-get it. We all know you dropped out of school at an early age -that or you showed up stoned off your ass and never paid attention. Well, Bucky, if you can put down the bong and Glock, you'll have two hands to learn how to read. One to hold the book and the other to slide your fingers across the letters so that you can sound it out. Here's a free tip: Ask- to pose a question. Axe- what your dad used to chop up your mom.
5) Dress for success! Yep, wife beaters with mustard stains are no longer in style. Phat Pharm and FUBU are not appropriate attire for an interview. Then again, showing your briefs isn't either. Pull up your fucking pants, put on a clean shirt (if you have one, if not just steal one from a white dude in the suburbs), and leave the 90's version of Air Jordan's at home. For fuck's sake man, have some pride.
