'India in KC': The Pitch Flickr Pool Pic of the Week

Bright and happy amidst the gritty and dull backdrop of downtown Kansas City, her hands waving like she just doesn't care, "India in KC" makes me want to bust a move or two next to this lovely dance partner.



Pitch Flickr pool member Maureen Lunn took this

picture on June 27 during a World Refugee Day celebration called

"Crossroads of Culture." The annual event is put on by Jewish Vocational

Services & Catholic Charities Refugee Services and

celebrates the diversity of the refugee communities these organizations

aid.

"There

were info booths, tons of wonderful ethnic food, beautiful handmade

scarfs and jewelry for sale, and a stage where various musicians

performed throughout the day," Lunn recalls.


An African hip-hop group took to the stage and asked the audience to dance. The woman, joyous in her blue sari, obliged.

"Unfortunately, I do not know this woman," Lunn said. "She just started dancing and I thought it was beautiful!"
