July was a bloody month. Kansas City, Missouri, reached 63 homicides for 2010 (Kansas City, Kansas' total homicides for 2010 is 15). There was an alleged plot to off an ex-, convictions in a couple high profile murder cases and Parkville's first homicide of 2010.

DEar Pitch: Thanks for the update on the city's homicide situation. This is a most serious problem that most of the city's elites want ignored--steps on sensitive toes and scares away conventions and business investment. As they used to say in the old game show, here is the "$64,000" question: Is 2010 like 2009 or 2008? In the time period August 1-Dec. 31 in 2008 we had 63 homicides, in the time period August 1-Dec. 31 2009 we had 40 homicides. Here's hoping that this is another 2009. Sincerely and Respectfully, Ernest Evans
