"McGoo" was the shooter, witnesses told police. Authorities believe McGoo is 30-year-old Ricky A. McGluen, and they allege he shot 25-year-old Keith Q. Wilkins three times in the head, killing him in the parking lot of an apartment complex at 2105 Lexington on July 28.
McGluen is still on the loose, but he's charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Also charged is 35-year-old Paul W. Smith, who police believe was driving McGluen around.
McGoo apparently owed a woman some money. She was hanging out with
Wilkins and another man in a parking lot. That's when he pulled out a
gun and pointed at a man's head and pulled the trigger. "Click." The gun
didn't fire.
and ran. He heard gunshots and saw Wilkins on the ground.
Witnesses
identified McGluen and Smith. Even the mother of Smith's children told
police that he borrowed her Dodge Caliber because "he needed to take
Ricky on a run." The day after, Smith allegedly told her that "he had to
put it [the car] away" and he "had to get away for awhile."
If he and McGluen are convicted, they'll be going away all right. Just not anywhere they want to go.
