There's something about this photo that screams Stand By Me, or any other movie chronicling a boy's troubled passage into manhood. Maybe it's the nostalgic lighting reminiscent of this Depression era photo. Maybe it's the mighty Missouri river to their backs, or their knowing expressions. Something's comin' and it ain't good.
Or maybe I'm in desperate need of a S'more and The Sandlot. Either way Pitch Flickr pool member Steve Dean's photo "Heavy Ground" gets teenaged ennui and the flagging days of summer all in one shot. Bravo!
