Riding lawnmowers don't make for fast getaways. Justin K. Schmitt (the muddy guy on the right) is accused of trying to make a getaway on a stolen riding mower around 10 a.m. yesterday in northeast Jackson County.
Once Schmitt apparently realized he'd been found out, he abandoned ship and ran into a wooded area near Union School and Atherton roads. That's when the sheriff's office unleashed hell upon Schmitt.
The sent officers and dogs into the woods and fields. They even deployed
a chopper. Finally, around 3:30 p.m., they arrested Schmitt, who was
arrested for a parole violation with warrants pending for two counts of
burglary and resisting arrest. Hope they let him shower.
