The local guys who ran an illegal sports gambling ring keep falling.
The latest, Michael J. Lombardo, pleaded guilty in federal court yesterday to running an illegal gambling business.
Lombardo, 57, not the HBO programming exec with the same name, admitted for three years he took care of bettors who wagered more than $490,976 from March 2006 to March 31, 2009. He agreed to forfeit a paltry $4,000 -- his share of the profits. So for $4,000 he's looking at up to five years at club fed without parole and a six-figure fine. That doesn't sound right.
Anyway, Lombardo is the latest to go down in a group of guys
with blood ties to Kansas City's organized crime past. Last month, Jimmy
Dicapo pleaded guilty to a similar charge as well as hawking
more than $400,000 worth of counterfeit purses and
shoes with some big name labels (Burberry, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci,
Louis Vuitton, Prada etc.) and money laundering.
The guy running
the show, Gerlarmo "Jerry" Cammisano, pleaded guilty to running
an illegal gambling operation in April.
In separate
cases, the government has already gotten guilty pleas
from Vincent
F. Civella, the son of Kansas City Crime Family boss Anthony "Tony
Ripe" Civella, William
D. Cammisano Jr., the 60-year-old son of noted mobster William "Willie
the Rat" Cammisano; brothers Michael
and Anthony Sansone, Tony Ripe's grandsons; 24-year-old Charles
J. Simone; and 26-year-old Michael
V.
Badalucco.

Yep, that's the guy. Most famously known as the hairy quido that worked at Bobby Baker's for years. Then jumped over to the Waldo for a stint. Speaking of stints, I wonder if he's going to be giving or receiving in his next stint. Probably, receiving- but that won't mess up that helmet head!
Lombardo?..Is this the same prick that bartended at some South KC bars?..Arrogant beyond measure..and good at stealing your money off the bar when ya aint a lookin'..I know!
