We love our music here in Kansas City, almost as much as our barbecue. While the local scene hasn't become a huge national export, it's home to talent we hope one day will get off our porch and make it big in the "real world." The Pitch celebrates Kansas City's homegrown musicians every day, this weekend in particular with the Pitch Music Awards this Sunday at the Uptown.

Of course, we can't nominate and award every band or musician in the KC-area. But the lo-fi folk of KCK band for the birds is just one of many local acts we admire. Pitch Flickr Pool member Sarah McDonald took this picture of them in July.

"This was taken at a concert by my friends' band, for the birds," McDonald says. "The

band is Tim Bridgham on guitar and lead vox; Megan Ross on cello; and

Sebastian D'Amico on mandolin and bass.

"For the Birds" is just one of many great

pics in The Pitch's

Flickr Pool. Share your best news, music, food, arts,

nightlife or random

photos by joining the group. They

may even be featured on Pitch.com.
