Courtney Edwards allegedly doesn't know how protection orders work. See, once you're served with one, you're supposed to avoid the person like they're Clay Chastain. But a half hour after being served, Edwards allegedly returned to his girlfriend's home and kicked open the locked door to her bedroom, where she was hiding. She jumped out of a window to escape, but he caught her, dragged her back into the home, and forced her and her children into a basement.
That's when Edwards allegedly started issuing threats -- including saying he'd kill his girlfriend if she talked to the police officers on the scene, who he would also kill.
Obviously, Edwards didn't kill anyone or else he'd be facing more charges than kidnapping, second-degree assault and violating a
protection order. He was arrested in a bathroom and
taken downtown where he refused to talk.
The girlfriend also claimed that Edwards hit her in the right eye with a
handgun and on the left cheek during an August 11 assault. After that
assault, he allegedly took her to the basement and wouldn't let her
go to work.
Court documents refer to the woman as Edwards' girlfriend. After this, I'm guessing there's a break up coming.
