We all need a little attention sometimes. But seeking attention by threatening to kill the President of the United States -- especially when you're already in prison -- just isn't constructive.
We're looking at you, Josh R. McCallum.
McCallum, 33, is serving a 12-year prison sentence at the Northeast Correctional Center in Bowling Green, Missouri, for two counts of first-degree burglary. In August 2009, he mailed a letter threatening to kill President Barack Obama.
According to an article on STLtoday.com, McCallum wrote, "The
president needs to be shot for fucking our country around like he
has. If I was out there I would do it myself or at least try to.
Anyone who has fucked our country over like this needs to
die. ... When I get out all those I've mentioned will be dealt with.
Let them know I will be coming."
sentencing, "Clearly his actions in this case were misguided based on
his
desire to shed light on his conviction."
But U.S. District Judge Henry E. Autrey wasn't buying Jones' explanation; he sentenced McCallum to 30 additional months in prison, which he will serve after his current sentence expires in 2018.
