The Missouri Supreme Court decided yesterday that Roderick Nunley will be executed on October 20.This will be the first execution in Missouri in more than a year.
Nunley and Michael Taylor murdered a 15-year-old girl, Ann Harrison, in 1989. In a stolen car and high on drugs, the men plucked Harrison from her school bus stop and drove her to Nunley's mother's house.
The girl was forced to the basement, raped, tied up, and stuffed into the trunk of the car. Worried that she'd identify the men, they stabbed her 10 times and abandoned the car after driving it to a neighborhood close to the house.
Both men pleaded guilty.
Taylor was to be executed in February 2006 but was spared hours before his execution while the federal courts debated whether lethal injection qualifies as cruel and unusual punishment. An execution date for Taylor has not since been set.

I do believe in capital punishment and this can't come too soon. This girl was so innocent and treated so horribly. If what TJuan says is true, the police had better be talking to others in that family...sounds like a typical dysfunctional family to me...especially TJuan! Lethal injection being debated as cruel and unusual for how many years? This happened how long ago? I remember when this happened. How much it saddened and terrified the community. Lethal injection is the least of what is justifiable in this case. The last moments of that girl's life were full of pain, horrifying, lonely and dark as she was raped and stabbed and left to die alone in the trunk of a car. A family continues to wonder what what life would be like if they still had their precious Ann. There is really only a handful of people that this sad case involves directly these days. For the rest of us: may we be so lucky as not to have to carry the burden of loving someone lost in such a way or loving someone who would lose their way and perpetrate such an ugly act. There are women of every color and age raped and murdered every day and done so by cruel individuals just as diverse in decree.
