Since everyone in Regular America is super broke, The Hill -- not to be confused with The Hills, although if you do confuse the two, please share your meds -- decided to make us all feel worse by telling us how rich our national lawmakers are, and how they're only getting richer as everyone else gets poorer.
Among the richest: Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill (D-Someplace Way Fancier Than You).
According to The Hill's annual report on congress's wealth, "the 50 wealthiest lawmakers were worth almost $1.4 billion in 2009,
about $85.1 million more than 12 months earlier."
Mr. Teresa Heinz Kerry is the richest, followed by a bunch of other old white people, followed by Claire McCaskill, whose apparent wealth comes from her husband, Joseph Shepard. Shepard owns a bunch of affordable-housing projects, and together the pair is worth around $15 million.
No other area congressmen made the list, but don't worry: They're not starving.
