Did the University of Kansas force athletics director Lew Perkins into an early retirement? Sports By Brooks has a source that says the answer is a definite yes.
Perkins resigned, "effective immediately," yesterday. Has anything good ever been attached to those words?
Perkins' resignation came just days after the Turner Gill era of Jayhawk football opened with an embarrassing
6-3 loss to North Dakota State. But that's apparently not the reason for Perkins' early exit (he was slated to retire next September).
A former KU athletic department staffer told Sports
By Brooks that Perkins' quick exit was due to university officials
not wanting Perkins help in hiring the next athletics director.
I'mThe scandalstold Perkins was already promoting one of his KU athletic dept.
cronies for his former post, but that university officials were
extremely uncomfortable in having the scandal-addled Perkins associated
with the future hire.
Thus, Perkins was pushed out to prevent anyinput whatsoever on the
future of the Kansas athletic department.
in question: the feds investigating the
skimming of men's basketball and football tickets and the upcoming
Kansas Governmental Ethics Commission meeting that will look into
Perkins accepting a personal loan of $15,000 of exercise equipment in
exchange for better basketball seats.
SB Nation Kansas City is
already wondering
if Kansas football coach Turner Gill will get the boot
since, you know, athletics directors usually like to have "their guys"
on the payroll. Unless, say, your name is Bill Self. Then you're
safe.
Don't weep for Lew. He's still collecting about $2
million before taxes. So he's not losing any cash on this arrangement.

That's all ku fans came come up with, lame homophobic and bestiality jokes. Quality 'edukation' there.
ku is such an embarrassment to the state of Kansas. But it is expected as most of their fans are people who either didn't go to ku (Pitt St. Emporia St. etc.) or didn't go to college at all.
Also I've noticed that when I wear purple out and about that the ku fans that feel the need to talk trash to me are the ones handing me my drive thru order or bagging my groceries.
