Here's a new idea for a drinking game. Take a shot every time you spy Kevin Yoder using something that doesn't belong to him in one of his congressional campaign commercials.
Yoder first won our hearts with his fake all-American dog, and then his darling little girls. (Yoder is actually childless.) We speculated that his next phony installation might be a hot stand-in wife or stolen pickup truck, but Yoder outdid even our wildest expectations. He borrowed a whole college campus.
According to the University Daily Kansan, the student paper of KU, Yoder and his film crews were seen skulking around campus filming his next commercial. One student told the paper that he saw Yoder and his cronies with a video camera, filming a kid who looked straight at the camera and said with a lot of enthusiasm, "I'm a Jayhawk, and I'm a Yoder voter."
Todd Cohen, the director of university relations, told the UDK that Yoder didn't get the school's permission to film.
"Under our media policy, they are supposed to get permission to film from University Relations," Cohen said to the paper. "I am disappointed that didn't occur."
We, on the other hand, prefer our Yoder odor musty and recycled. Without something dubious going on in his commercials, eau de Yoder just wouldn't pass the sniff test.

Wondering about Yoder's refusal to take a breathalizer test when he was arrested on K-10 for speeding.... If he's a lawmaker, shouldn't he also be a law-abider? After all "Illegal is Illegal" says his buddy KKKobach. Or id he one of THOSE type of insider lawmakers who believe they are above the law.

Kevin Yoder is a shady character...I would not vote for him in a million years....thank god I don't live in Kansas and have to vote for this guy....all those Kansans who live in his district be aware that he is not to be trusted. Kevin is only interested in one person...Kevin Yoder...If you are not like him in any shape or form he will not like you...he has never changed and won't change...
I have to agree. A journalist reporting news in this fashion may get people to read his article but only the fringe people who look for anything and everything inflammatory to support mostly irrational views will actually cite this during arguments about the candidates. That being said, this was rather skillfully written to imply that Yoder was just sneaking around campus breaking rules and being generally "scummy" and shifty-eyed. Bravo. Next time, report the facts and go a little lighter on the liberal agenda. Some of us want to make informed decisions about the candidates - trumped up drivel like this doesn't help us do that.
"Here's a new idea for a drinking game. Take a shot every time you spy Kevin Yoder using something that doesn't belong to him in one of his congressional campaign commercials."
First of all, that is a horrible way to start anything that you want to be taken seriously. Secondly, KU actually does belong to him because it is a public university and he is a citizen of the state of Kansas.
Kevin Yoder has a constitutional right to do whatever he pleases on KU campus as long as it does not infringe of students' ability to be instructed. He does not need a permit to be there, speak, or even film. The only reason that you even care about this is because you desperately want an issue that makes Yoder look even remotely as scummy as the Moore family.
It sounds like you need to read the constitution, then study up on constitutional law, because this story makes you look incredibly ignorant, and makes Moore supporters look desperate.
Count down to plausible claims denying any foreknowledge or intent from at least one "leader" (wink, wink) in the Yoder campaign in 5, 4, 3, 2 . . .
Heck, it worked for 9/11 and the Derivative crash of 2008, why not for some little local thing like this?
Yoder's past history with the campus does not entitle him to do whatever he wishes with the campus, including filming it. If he can't even follow a simple rule like contacting the university ahead of time, imagine how he will be as Federal representative. No thank you. While it's great that he's still got school spirit, it isn't at his beck and whim to be used for his (obviously) political purposes. He should be fined for doing this stupid stunt.
A film crew with a Kansas congressional candidate and former KU student body president Kevin Yoder allegedly violated University of Kansas media policy last Wednesday after failing to request permission to film on campus.
Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, the office of University Relations received reports that Yoder, Republican candidate for the 3rd Congressional District, was with a group of people filming in front of Strong Hall and the Kansas Union.
I was walking across Jayhawk Boulevard and saw him and a few of his staff with a video camera, Nick Boehm, Prairie Valley Senior said. There was a kid that enthusiastically said, Im a Jayhawk and Im a Yoder voter into the camera.
Director of University Relations Todd Cohen said that his office had received no request from the Yoder campaign to film on campus.
Under our media policy they are supposed to get permission to film from University Relations, Cohen said. I am disappointed that didnt occur.
KU Media Guidelines and Practices, the policy in question, requires non-university and non-media entities to request permission from the office of University Relations before filming on campus.
Cohen said the policy is meant to protect the University image as well as students from interruptions on campus.
If it was your home and your business you wouldnt want someone to walk in and start filming, he said.
Yoder, however, is not a total someone on campus. Yoder, who was in Lawrence on Wednesday to speak to the Student Senate, served as the student body president from 1998-1999. He graduated KU in 1999 with a degree in political science and English. He served on both the Kansas Union Memorial Corporation and KU Athletics Corporation Board of Directors. Yoder now serves as the Kansas State Rep. for the 20th District, which encompasses Overland Park and Leawood.
Yoder is running against Democrat Stephanie Moore, for the seat of her husband, Rep. Dennis Moore, who retires this year.
Yoder previously requested permission from University Relations to film at the Ambler Recreation Fitness Center, a building that Yoder worked to create as student body president. University Relations denied the request because it violated a Board of Regents and KU campus facilities policy.
The Use of Campus Facilities policy prohibits the use of state facilities for fundraising activities for candidates or political parties.
Those who knew Yoder from his time at KU were surprised and skeptical about the most recent behavior.
Generally when Kevin is on campus he does stop in because he has a lot of friends here I would be surprised if it happened in this fashion, Director of Kansas Memorial Unions David Mucci said. He would have called up. As I assume, if he was told no that he would have been smart enough not to do it.
Cohen said University Relations had yet to contact the Yoder campaign to fully confirm Yoder was with the film crew and that the film crew was Yoders.
Cohen did say, however, that members of University Relations went to the Union to search for Yoder after employees saw a man with a professional quality video camera filming in front of the building.
University Relations staff were looking around for this person, said Kelly Unger, who was working at the fourth floor KU info booth in the Union. They thought he was filming a commercial for something, but they didnt know what You could tell that they were a little bit fired up.
After looking through the Union, University Relations employees were unable to find the film crew or Yoder.
Cohen said that he did not think the University would pursue action to have the footage removed from television or the Internet if it is made into a commercial. He did say that the incident might cause the University to examine and strengthen its policies the future.
Yoder and his aides have been contacted repeatedly and have remained unavailable for comment about the filming. Yoder, when speaking to the senate on Wednesday night, promised to answer questions outside of the Kansas Room afterwards. However, after he was done speaking, Yoders staff rushed him to the elevator without allowing him to be questioned. A reporter was pushed away when attempting to speak with Yoder.
A Yoder aide explained that Yoder departed quickly to avoid being harassed by members of an opposing campaign.
Wow! Will you just look at all of the courage that being "right" gives our friend Anonymous!?!??
I'm so very impressed that Kevin Yoder inspires such forthright integrity!
BTW, one of the ways that government spending is so out of control is with Farm Subsidies and the Yoder family is a BIG recipient http://farm.ewg.org/region.php... of what David Stockman himself has called an abusive policy that contributes to long-standing deficits. http://www.marketwatch.com/sto...

Our economy is in the tank, government spending is out of control, and this author writing about how a politician allegedly filmed on public property without permission?
Also, the author missed these quotes from the original story:
Cohen said University Relations had yet to contact the Yoder campaign to confirm that the film crew was Yoders.
Cohen said he thought University Relations would not pursue the matter further.
I agree with both of these comments, No more MOORE !!!
Yoder should be allowed to film, he build the University of kansas Rec center (which is one of the most used facilities at KU) he was the president of the school, and now he is trying to promote KU. Where in this did he did something bad. Also, in the commercials no where did it say that those kids where his. They were his family members (niece/nephew). Yoder is a stand up person, and his policies WILL get him elected this fall. Lets go YODER !
