Vernon Davis guarantees victory against the Kansas City Chiefs, should probably shut his mouth

"We will win this game." Those words actually left San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis' mouth. He's guaranteeing a victory, and the 49ers need need a win. They're 0-2 after being picked by many to win the NFC West, going on the road to Arrowhead Stadium -- a place that was so electric for the Monday night game that the cameras were shaking -- and desperate for victory.

Davis just handed the Chiefs some bulletin board material -- if football teams still have bulletin boards.

Chiefs beat reporter Kent Babb asked Chiefs

defensive lineman and alleged

potty grabber Shaun Smith what he thought. Smith was

actually pretty modest.

"For him to put out there on line, guaranteeing victory,

that's him.

We'll see what happens on Sunday."

What happens? Hopefully the Chiefs stay undefeated, and Davis eats crow.

However, Davis has oddsmakers on his side. The

49ers are three-point favorites.
