Marquis Hughes, KCMO homicide No. 81: Shot, killed at Kings Quarters apartments (updated)

Update (2:36 p.m. September 29): Marquis D. Hughes, 23, was the victim of the homicide at the Kings Quarters Apartment Complex. Police are still looking for his killer.

Original Story (12 a.m. September 29): The death toll in Kansas City, Missouri, hit 81 overnight.

Several calls about gunshots sent the cops rushing to an apartment complex at 11300 Colorado around 8:43 p.m.



On the way, officers spotted a white SUV speeding away from the scene.

The cops stopped the SUV at Red Bridge Road and 71 Highway. Inside the

vehicle, they found a man in his twenties shot. The man's friend was

driving, trying to rush him to a hospital.

The shooting victim was pronounced dead at 9:17 p.m. Police are trying

to figure out what happened. They don't know who killed the man but the Star reports

that police are looking for a black Dodge Charger with Illinois plates.
