Junior GOPer flies the confederate flag on jesting bicep

You know what's funny? Confederate flags and masturbation puns.

Or at least they're funny to Dakotah Parshall, University of Missouri fraternity member and budding political strategist. Parshall is learning the campaign trade by stalking congressional candidate Stephene Moore with a video camera. Parshall works for Axiom Strategies, a sharp-elbowed shop that Moore's opponent, Kevin Yoder, has paid $105,000.

Parshall performs what's known as "opposition research," the polite term for dirt digging. Every campaign conducts does it. Axiom Strategies, which is led by Jeff Roe, the man to whom U.S. Rep. Sam Graves owes his political career, takes it up a notch. Roe's minions harass opponents as much as they document them. Here, for instance, is Parshall tailgating Moore at a parade.

So how do the tables look when they're turned? Here's an image of Parshall apparently gearing up for a college event with a "white trash" theme. (Parshall is a member of the Mizzou chapter of Alpha Gamma Sigma.) Marshall went with an outfit from the Toby Keith Collection, dandifying his ensemble with a hat that celebrates the two great pastimes of fishing and beating off.

Rebel yell: Dakotah Parshall, left, and a friend at the pre-party stage.

On Parshall's arm is what looks like a temporary tattoo of the flag the Confederate States of America used during their brief but newsworthy existence.

Reached for comment, Roe says he does not condone Parshall's behavior. "I'm disappointed by it," Roe says. "I personally commit to making this a learning experience for Dakotah, both personally and professionally. He's a good kid at heart. But this is a mistake."

Is Parshall a racially insensitive twerp or just a participant in an inherently stupid party activity? You decide, Third District!

No it is incinuating that Toby Keith would wear a rebel flag and a hat dedicated to beating off

How is Toby Keith reference prejudicial? Does he not wear blue jeans and flannel shirts with the sleeves cut off?

If someone from the left was following Yoder around, the wingnuts would have gone all violent on him by now. Oh and tell this kid that Toby Keith voted for Obama.

Humor is one of the oldest forms of aggression there is.

As with any form of expression, especially in a social context, one must ask oneself, "Out of the many thousands of forms this particular event/behavior could have taken, WHY this particular personal choice?"

Research on answers to that kind of question include Stanley Milgram's data illustrating a willingness to punish that is legitimized by either an authority figure, Yoder in this instance, or by, as Phillip Zimbardo's work showed, a social construct that defines winners and losers, such as a fraternity. Perhaps Dakotah is responding to both influences.

"..outfit from the Toby Keith collection.?" If that isn't irony I don't know what is. That is extremely prejudicial

The Independent Rage says:
If some goof like this Parshall was following Yoder around in public, then you'd love it and would either not cover it or would defend it. Same old story.
---

Actually, if this guy was following Yoder around, it would be plastered wall-to-wall on FOX News, 980 KMBZ, and Breitbart 24-7. Darla Jaye would be having a meltdown. FOX would accuse him of ambush journalism (the same kind Bill O likes) defame him, his family and any associate of his. Next, they would publicly scorn him, then indirectly encourage threats for having the gall to keep our candidates honest. After that, they would put the picture above up and start making suggestions like this is his 'pool boy-friend' or something to that effect.

Next, Karl Rove's group Crossroads GPS, would start running commercials asking the questions: "Why is Stephene Moore harassing a great American like Kevin Yoder?", "Why is Stephene Moore threatened by Kevin Yoder?", "Stephene Moore's dishonest, vile tactics are soooo Washington..."

This guy should consider himself lucky that he works for Republicans, it allows whatever sort of things he might have in his closet to stay there. At least until he stops at a Minneapolis airport bathroom with a 'wide stance'...

This is just a funny piece that shows what it is like when the shoe is on the other foot...

Wow, a college kid being goofy and showing moderately poor judgement? What's the world coming to?!?!?!?!! THIS DEFINITELY IS DESERVING OF 400 WORDS AND EVERYONE'S TIME. Keep up the sleuthing David, I know you got that Pulitzer in your crosshairs!

Seriously? He is a college student. For those of you who are college educated, didn't you ever go to a theme party with a goofy costume? What is so wrong with this? Leave the guy alone.

The unfortunately named Dakotah doesn't seem too hateful.
He doesn't seem to mind hanging out with his gay friend there.

Is Dakotah trying to put light on the Tea Party here? "Good kid at heart and a learning experience," are you kidding?

Not only is the Confederate Flag racially offensive, it is also offensive to associate with white trash. I had many relatives who fought and died in the Confederate Army and though I do not agree with the Confederate cause it is offensive to associate the many thousands who died with white trash. Shame on Dakotah!

Do they think that if they follow Moore around long enough with the camera, they can get her to go all Bjork on this guy or something?
