L. Lawrence can apparently write a good book about running a daycare. Actually running one, that's a different story.
A Johnson County jury found Lawrence guilty on Wednesday of involuntary manslaughter, aggravated endangerment of a child, and a violation of a family day care regulation in the death of 18-month-old Ava Patrick.
Lawrence was babysitting Patrick at the Olathe home where she ran her daycare in April 2009. But something went horribly wrong.
The little girl suffocated after getting her neck struck between a fence
separating toddlers and babies. Lawrence was caring for
14 children at the
time of Ava's death, eight more than the state of Kansas allows.
