George Clooney: Actor. Director. Humanitarian. Supporter of Sam Brownback for governor? Well, maybe not.
But the second worst Batman did defend Brownback a little bit on HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher Friday night while talking about his work to raise awareness of the problems looming in Sudan's future.
Maher, doing his classic "All conservatives are stupid because of XYZ..." shtick, posited a little theory that conservatives "have a hard time being empathetic to people who are not like them at all." Presumably in this scenario, "not like them at all" means Africans and people trying to plan a future for their warring nation ahead of a succession vote following a too-depressing-for-words genocide.
But Clooney wasn't as quick to drink Maher's Kool-Aid as the studio
audience was. As you can see in the video below, Clooney gently shot down
Maher by talking about working with Brownback, and the right-of-right future Kansas Governor's committment to helping Sudan.
"I mean, Sam Brownback and I did press conferences together, and you
know, when I talked to the senator, I said, 'Listen, we don't agree on a
whole lot of stuff, but we both agree on this one.' And I found that over
the years on this particular issue specifically, and a lot of the
African countries, that you can get a lot of conservative help," he
said. Then Maher took his ball and went home to watch clips of Christine O'Donnell on his show.

You might want to read up on "C Street" folks and figure out what kind of fairy tales they're into.
It just goes to show you that the real bigotry is anti-conservative and stems (generally) from the Hollywood crowd. Bigots are only bigots if they hold a conservative viewpoint.
Mr. Maher is the most closed minded bigot of them all. It's coming from the other direction. Broadcast media just won't present it that way.
