  • Maria the Poodle is back to gum peanut butter and votes for Funk.

Maria the Poodle is pandering for votes for Mayor Mark Funkhouser once again, as the Funk tries to ride a wave a cute into office.

If anything it's an interesting sociological experiment: pitting his poodle's cuteness against the disgust for the mayor. Funk also uses his famous friend, 98.9 The Rock jock Johnny Dare, in a cameo role.

In the 2010-'11 installment, Maria touts Funk's positions and accomplishments, citing a 90 percent reduction in metal plates, his vote against 1,000-room convention hotel monstrosity and backing Rockfest's return to Penn Valley Park -- even after last year's muddy mess.

Will it work? Who knows? Just get to the puppy already!

It's great that the Funk defended Rockfest. It's just grass, and grass grows back. The money that the festival brings into the city is well worth the mud we put up with afterwards for only 1 year. That brings in more money into the city than our Parks & Rec department probably will ever truly need. You don't hear about Sprint Center complaining about people leaving a mess afterwards, because overall it is profitable. Same with the city.
