Michael Fletcher wants to be a city councilman. First he needs to figure out where City Hall is.

Fletcher's attorney, Michael Yonke, this week filed a defamation lawsuit against Sharon Sanders Brooks, the 3rd District councilwoman Fletcher hopes to unseat. The suit attempted to list City Hall as Sanders Brooks' address. But the address was wrong. City Hall is located at 414 East 12th Street, not 141 East 12th Street, as the suit states.

KCTV5's Betsy Webster drew attention to the error without correcting it during her report on the suit on Thursday. Standing outside City Hall, Webster brandished the document, as TV reporters like to do. "If you look under the defendant, you can see the address: 141 East 12th Street, 20th floor," Webster said. "That is City Hall."

Actually, 141 East 12th is the approximate location of Oppenstein Brothers Park, a few blocks to the west.

Toward the end of Webster's report, the camera zoomed in on the "414" numerals attached to the facade of City Hall, taunting Yonke and correspondent alike.
