Let's try this again. Last week, the initial reports came in that two Kansas City police officers were fired upon in their patrol car. The thought of someone opening fire on police was a frightening one.
Turned out that the officers were never in any danger. They'd heard a van backfire, thought they heard gunshots and started shooting at the van (and in the process, shot up their own car). That isn't the case this time.
Police officers were serving a search warrant in the 4400 block of Independence Avenue Tuesday afternoon when they became the victims of a drive-by shooting. The officers reported that passenger leaned out of a passing vehicle and fired a gun at them. The officers returned fire, ran to their vehicle and started a pursuit but they couldn't find the suspects.
Luckily, the officers weren't injured.
KMBC Channel 9 reports that the suspects' car was a black Honda Civic with "fat" tires.
