UPDATE: The victim of the homicide at 72nd and Brooklyn has been identified as 18-year-old Lionel L. Pierson of Kansas City.
The Star reports that the shooter allegedly asked for a cigarette prior to the shooting. Pierson would have graduated from Star Academy in the Hickman Mills School District in May.
Original Story (November 24): Kansas City police are the shooting death of a man near 72nd Street and
Brooklyn Avenue.
KMBC Channel 9 reports
that the man was found dead inside a vehicle around 11:30 a.m. and a passenger in the
vehicle was uninjured.
No official word from the KCPD yet, and no details on the shooting victim as of yet.
If the man's death is ruled a homicide, this will mark Kansas City, Missouri's 94th homicide of 2010.
UPDATE: KSHB Channel 41 talked to Pierson's mother, and it's as heartbreaking as you'd imagine. KSHB also reports that Pierson's father was murdered 10 years ago.Watch the video below:
