Almost a decade after it was introduced, the federal DREAM Act -- an immigration-reform bill that would clear a path to citizenship for young undocumented aliens who agree to serve in the military or attend college -- has a shot at passing this week.
The momentum has local immigrants rallying for the cause, which would turn well-behaved young people -- who, being kids and all, didn't likely choose to jump the border -- into tax-paying, educated citizens. Just the kind of people we want around here, right Kris Kobach?
What's that? I can't hear you when you talk with your mouth full of xenophobia. Yeah, just set it on the table, next to your blackened, spiked soul. No, I didn't know souls were detachable like that. That is interesting. Anyway, you were saying about the DREAM Act?

THEY SHOULD PASS THE DREAM ACT BEACAUSE MOST LATINO KIDS THAT ARE IN SCHOOLS ACTUALLY WANT TO BE SOMEONE IN LIFE NOT LIKE THEM WHITE KIDS THAT THINK THEY ARE BETTER THAN EVERYONE ELSE!! ....AND WHAT!!!!
Marcos I read what you said about their not getting SS medical or social benefits. I guess you have never been in the ER of most big city hospitals or had your job taken by and illegal because he will work for less but I have and can tell you you don't know what your talking about. Do I feel for the kids that had no choice but to come here yes, but we can not afford them and their relatives. Plus look around you we are slowly turning into a 3rd world country. We now have honor killings, teenage hit men for the cartel and reverse discrimination (if you don't think so try and get a job in a fast food place run by Mexicans). There is good reason that gun sales are going through the roof and if it ends up with blood in the streets it will be because of all you do gooders trying to give away something that is not yours or mine to give.
God help us all
Listen guys, the DREAM Act is very important for America. Most current undocumented students came here as children, and did not have a choice in whether tagging along with their parents or not. They have gone through learning a new language, our education system, and why not give them a chance. Plus, if you don't let these people become tax-paying citizens, its never going to change. Did ya'll know that illegal aliens can't get social security benefits, a driver's license, or qualify for many medical benefits? Seriously, think about this. If you don't give them a chance to start going up in society then of course they are going to stay on the bottom. Give the kids a chance. Let's not be bias here.
Holy shit, I almost forgot the Jews! Its those goddamn Jews, I tell you, they are the reason we are in economic shambles right now! We need to rise up and persecute the Jews! We need a scapegoat for our failings as a nation! Shitting on brown people just isn't cutting it.
Well shit man, at least they aren't Irish, German, or Italian. Wouldn't want any fucking Wop Dagos getting bennies. Goddamn!
Senior American citizens who paid taxes, Social Security, and Medicare all their lives will get their benefits cut by a huge amount under Obama, but that's okay because we need the money to pay for a "better way of life" for the children of illegal immigrants who paid nothing--or very little-into our social services systems.
Yup, sounds like "social justice" to me!
DREAM Act would obviously reward the parents who broke the law to come here. It also sends a message that our immigration laws are a joke--if you sneak in here, every few years we waive the law and give you some goodies for your trouble.
As far as the supposed great benefits these kids would provide for us, statistics make it pretty clear that very few are going to be Cornell biochemistry majors or Caltech computer engineers--who can help jumpstart the economy. Most are going to be Chicano studies majors at Los Verdes Community College--the kind of kids who might end up working at In-N-Out Burger or perhaps Sales Associates at Walmart. Nothing wrong with those jobs, but they are not going to help us compete with China to remain first-world nation. Which is something very much in doubt at the moment.
DREAM is dead, and it is a well deserved death. Finish that hunger strike, kids (you need to lose some more weight), then pack up and head on home...
