The Zack Greinke trade talk changes by the day. Yesterday, Yahoo's Jeff Passan reported that the Royals ace would be willing to waive his no-trade clause that prevents Kansas City from trading him to big-market teams like the New York Yankees.
Citing a source close to the right-hander, Passan reported that Greinke "would happily pitch anywhere that would provide a winning team."
"I wouldn't put it past him to go to New York," the source told Yahoo. "I don't think he'd rule out anybody. He says he likes New York. Especially because they're winners. He wants to go to a team that wins."
Except the Yankees don't believe it.
The New York Post reported today that Greinke "does not
want to pitch under the burning lights of the Yankees' universe."
Not sure who to believe but it's almost a certainty that Greinke's days in Kansas City are numbered. Yahoo lists suitors such as the Texas Rangers and Minnesota Twins with the Royals asking for "at least one major league-ready player and multiple high-level prospects," which everyone pretty much already knew.
