RIP, Club NRG. Del Hedgepath has officially sold the nightspot and all of the memories tied to it -- the pissing contests off the roof, the alleged rape of a clubber, the bloodying of a patron at the hands of a bouncer, the reported cocaine after parties, and the booty shootings, to name a few memorable moments from the club's past.
Hedgepath, who in September was accused of slapping a patron, was required to sell the club and cut all ties with new management because of the club's naughtiness. He hung on as long as he could, turning in the required paperwork about an hour before the deadline, said Regulated Industries' manager Gary Majors. But even though the Hedgepath dynasty is over, his phonetic empire lives on. Club NRG, formerly Club NV, will soon become Xpressions.
The new owners are husband-and-wife team Eric and Natasha Union, both first-time club owners. Eric envisions it as a "universal" club: "It ain't gonna be just for one specific type," he told The Pitch.
Xpressions will open on Christmas Eve with a redesign and a new paint job. Eric promised it would be safer than its former iteration. "I'm going to provide more security. It'll be a more friendlier staff, feeling, and environment," he said.
Hedgepath will continue to act as the landlord for the space. But according to Eric, "A lot of people are happy he's gone. ... He ain't got no say-so in how I run my business."
This is the end of NRG, but it's not the end of Del Hedgepath, Hedgepath told The Pitch in a Facebook message in October. "I do see myself back in the club biz within the next several years. I have
the perfect location but will wait until the time is right disclose," he wrote.

A man was shot early this morning outside a Kansas City club that recently opened under new ownership after city officials pressured the previous owner to shut it down because of violence.
