The lucky ducks at the MidtwonKCPost have a sneak peek into the future of the midtown Main Street corridor -- and it's pedestrian friendly (and the future includes lots of people hitting up that payday loan store with the green awning).
The Post reports that bids are due on December 21 (aka Tuesday) for the streetscape work along Main from 34th to 44th streets and along 43rd from JC Nichols to Oak. Work could begin as early as spring -- unless Mother Nature decides to go snowpocalypse on our asses.
Heidi Pollman, a landscape architect with Confluence, the firm working with MainCor on the redesign, told the Post that everything from sidewalks to street light upgrades to seats to bike racks and more are being planned. Even some of ex-Mayor Kay Barnes' rain gardens will be in play.
Check out more renderings over at the MidtownKCPost. And for a whole lot more on this, mark your calendar for MainCor's January 26 meeting.
