A man accused of abducting his 18-month-old daughter surrendered to Alvin Brooks and the AdHoc Group Against Crime on Wednesday.
KCTV5 reported that Rondell Ross brought his daughter, Skylyn, to AdHoc's offices and asked Brooks to call Kansas City police. "He said he wanted to get it over and that he loved his daughter," Brooks told KCTV5. "He wants his day in court."
Grain Valley police were looking for Ross after Skylyn's mother, Sharron White, alleged that Ross attacked her on December 7 and ran off with their daughter.
White told police that she was entering the access
code to her garage around 6 p.m. when she was hit in the back of the
She said Ross grabbed her daughter and ran to a black Chevy Tahoe. Ross
allegedly handed Skylyn to a woman in the passenger seat of the
vehicle and drove away.
However, Ross told police a different story. Ross reportedly called Grain Valley police on Monday and told a
detective that he didn't kidnap his daughter; he did a normal
custody exchange.
The good news in this mess: Skylyn is in "good health," according to KCTV5. Skylyn is also back with her mother.
Ross is in custody on a warrant for second-degree assault, and he may be facing more charges, including super-bad judgment, if the mother's story is true.
