  • Matt Cassel may get to wear his helmet on Sunday.

Previously on Matt Cassel's playing status, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback called himself "day-to-day" for Sunday's road game with the St. Louis Rams.

On Friday, word from the Chiefs is that Cassel is "questionable" and the team's medical staff will evaluate him up to game day. It's a little more than a week after Cassel had his appendix removed -- and he's sounding like he'll be good to go.

Take this report from CBS Sports:

QB Matt Cassel was on the field and taking a full turn in practice Friday morning, increasing the odds he'll play Sunday in St. Louis. Compared to practices Wednesday and Thursday, Cassel threw the ball with more velocity in the period where the workout was open to the media

That's the best report I've heard all week. I have no insider info on this, but I fully expect to see Cassel trot onto the field Sunday. The truth is, the Chiefs will need him, especially after seeing how inept the offense looked in last week's 31-0 drubbing at the hands of the San Diego Chargers.
