The football gods have forgiven the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs put playoff tickets on sale to season-ticket holders just days before a road trip to San Diego. The Chiefs were hanging on to a tenuous two-game lead of the AFC West at the time, and sure enough, the angry gods struck, forcing quarterback Matt Cassel to miss the game due to emergency surgery to remove his appendix. The result: A 31-0 loss to the Chargers in which the Chiefs managed just 67 yards of total offense.
But the gods are apparently forgiving. The Chiefs clinched the AFC West after beating up on the Tennessee Titans in a 34-14 victory at Arrowhead Sunday (and losses by the Chargers and Oakland Raiders). And now tickets are set to go on sale to Jackson County taxpayers and the general public on Monday.
Tickets to the AFC Wild Card Playoff game go on sale to Jackson County taxpayers at 10 a.m. Yes, you have to bring proof that you've paid your property taxes (and a valid government-issued ID). Business owners should bring a current copy of the employee identification for the person buying tickets.
Here's where you can get tix. Go to the ticket office located between Founder's Plaza and the Hy-Vee Gate on the northwest side of Arrowhead at 10 this morning. Again, don't forget your ID and property tax receipt. And don't think getting there super early will get you a better seat. The Chiefs are doing a lottery at 9 a.m. to determine the order of who gets to buy tickets.
If you don't live in Jackson County, you can still buy tickets. Just a few hours later. Tickets for the general public go on sale Monday at 5 p.m. The bonus for you guys: You can buy them through Ticketmaster or by phone at 800-745-3000.
The date and time of the game is still TBA (it'll either be January 8 or 9), but the most likely opponent is the New York Jets. Ticket prices range from $37 to $147. Oh, and tickets are still on sale for the regular season finale with the Oakland Raiders.
