A model found dead in the mansion of the heir to a billionaire beer fortune. Yep, that's ripe for national news coverage, especially when it takes 40 minutes to call 911 to report her death.
CBS News did a lengthy piece on August Busch IV and the his 27-year-old girlfriend, a model named Adrienne Martin, seemingly asking if charges could be coming against "The Fourth," as he's called.
In CBS' reporting, they found out from Martin's ex-husband, a doctor, that Martin "had a heart condition that causes an erratic heart rate." They also reported that Martin's friends have said it's highly unlikely she overdosed and wasn't into that scene.
"In terms of whether charges will
be filed or not, I think there's certainly the potential that August
Busch IV just has incredibly bad luck and this woman may have died from
circumstances that had nothing to do with him," Julie MacIntosh, author
of Dethroning the King: The Hostile Takeover of Anheuser-Busch, an
American Icon told CBS. "That said, he has long lived a fast life, so it
doesn't necessarily
mean that he wasn't involved in some way. We'll just have to see.
The 46-year-old does have a strange history.
CBS called him a "risk-taker" who had "numerous run-ins with the law,"
including a car crash while in college that killed a 22-year-old woman.
Busch was found eight-hours later "disoriented, with blood still on
him." Oddly, "charges were dropped after evidence was lost."
Then there was a car chase with St. Louis in which officer shot out a
tire -- a tire they later helped him change after figuring out who he
was.
Busch has kept a low profile since his family sold Anheuser-Busch for $52 billion to Belgian beer maker InBev in 2008. He does still sit on the beer giant's board of directors.
