UPDATE: Suspended Kansas basketball player Mario Little's court date has been pushed from January 5 to May 19. He's facing charges of battery, criminal damage to property and criminal trespassing for an incident with his girlfriend earlier this month, according to the Lawrence Journal-World.

Original Story: University of Kansas basketball player Mario Little was arrested early Thursday morning on charges of battery, criminal damage and criminal trespassing, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.

The 22-year-old senior guard was arrested at an apartment building at 1241 Ohio Street after police were called to a disturbance around 5:14 a.m., the Cap-Journal reported. He posted a $700 bond and was released.

On the season, Little is averaging 6.2 points and 3.7 rebounds in 16.3 minutes.

Not much else is known but feel free to post comments about KU basketball players and football players fighting. Or maybe this is a good time to apologize to KU football coach Turner Gill. Maybe his rules about not being out past 10:30 p.m. is a good idea.

UPDATE: Kansas Jayhawks basketball coach Bill Self has indefinitely suspended Little. Here are the statements from Self and Little.

"Mario remains a member of our team while we work through this process," Self said, "but we have suspended him indefinitely from competition while we gather the facts of this incident. Mario exercised very poor judgment in his handling of a situation. We're disappointed in his behavior; it's unfortunate that our university, our program and his teammates all have to deal with this negative issue."

"I apologize for what happened last night," Little said. "I feel awful, and I understand that I will have to deal with the consequences of my actions. I accept responsibility for those actions, and I apologize to my teammates for being irresponsible."

UPDATE II: The University of Kansas has suspended basketball player Mario Little from

the team after last night's arrest on charges of battery -- and now we

know some of the details, including Little allegedly finding a

19-year-old man at his girlfriend's apartment at 3 a.m.

KU Sports reported that Little showed up at his 22-year-old girlfriend's apartment at 3 a.m. Little got into a fight with a 19-year-old Lawrence man who was at the apartment. The woman ran to a friend's apartment, and Little chased after her.

Little allegedly pushed his way into the apartment to go after his girlfriend, KU Sports reported. He found her in an upstairs bedroom, and allegedly pushed her into a sink. Little is also accused of pushed a 24-year-old man into a desk. Several people broke up the fight and "subdued Little until police arrived."

The 19-year-old guy at Little's girlfriend's apartment reportedly had a "minor head injury," and Little's girlfriend suffered "injuries to her neck." Both refused medical treatment.

Well if he beat his woman he should be disbanded from the team permanently. Too often douches like this guy get away too easily. And it's nothing an apology can fix, because athletes make insincere apologies everyday.

I forgot to also mention it is derek donovan who keeps up the company line. His email is DDonovan@kcstar.com ask him why all the censorship. here is my correspondence with the douche bag.

Me: The KC Star is being very hypocritical by allowing comments on the Mario Little story. Virtually every story about Derrick Washington (Missouri football) had the comment section closed, especially the first articles published. Why is the KC Star allowing comments on Little's situation?

Them:Shawn, as Ive explained to you several times, its subjective. If things get out of hand, editors will sometimes disable comments. Its on a case-by-case basis. Ill remind you The Star is a private business and has every right to post whatever its editors think is appropriate or not. Im not debating this with you.

why is it that the kansas city star blocked all comments when derrick washington was getting charged and kicked off the missouri football team. Yet, when something bad happens to ku they allow any and all comments. fucking hypocrits! has anybody else become tired of their very biased censorship?

This would make a good subject Nadia or Justin to write about. Surely, someone has contacts over there that can set the story straight.

Not joking here, but the rumor is that it was 2 members of the baseball team and him fighting over a girls. When will their basketball team learn that you can't make a housewife out of a jersey chaser?
